Weathering Tyres, Rims & Wheels

Weathering tyres can be just as satisfying as modeling an entire model. Here are some that I did. I used these colors and brands that I had on hand:

1.Citadel Mournfang Brown

2.Citadel Graveyard brown

3. Citadel Earth/brown filter/shade colors to add depth

4. Vallejo dust pigments

5. For the worn down look of the tyres, I just used an industrial grinder. Go light, because the rpm is very high on industrial grinders. Or just use your dremel.

I used a sponge with stipple effect on majority of the tyre rims:

These all look great.

I'm ready to ride along with you while you build one of your dioramas. I think that would be extremely interesting to see your process as you progress through.

Very interesting choices of paint you are using! Definitely I don't recommend for anybody to use black paint. I have been using AK tire paint and it is pretty good too.

This is some really good stuff and the list of things used to achieve the look you're after is great information. Can you perhaps go into your process that you use to apply the ingredients, Charles. Maybe a step-by-step method from the way they look out of the box to the finished product?
