Classy body design. I think many people forget that Willy's made cars before their immortal jeep.

Classy body design. I think many people forget that Willy's made cars before their immortal jeep. Not in the auto world my brutha. These are well known in that realm. lol. I hear what you're saying though....alot of folks outside that circle don't know. Great start on this Paul. Looking forward to more progress......

Squeezed this in between Vanderbrink's prepping and photographing some20or so of my cars for auction.
It's in color after confirming how it fit on the long finished chassis. Paint is Silver Flake base with very old Cal Custom Turquoise Candy lacquer. Hosted on FotkiHosted on FotkiHosted on Fotki

That color is looking spectacular. I've never used candy paints on an auto build before but I'd like the opportunity to with a custom build. Coming along nicely on this one Paul. Really nicely!

Great color choice. And your body mods look terrific too. The whole shape of the body looks like it’s leaning forward, ready to launch hard!👍

This is a photo of the Willys after it went to a 427 Big Block Chevy, it actually won more races with the 327 small block

That's a really good shade of blue and an overall good lookin' car Paul. Funny how a car like that can win more races with a small block than it could with a big block. Traction issues?

No. On an older paved track back in the day the big blocks didn't hook up as well and they tended to rev up slower. A small block winds up quicker and higher (lmy original 301 SBC regularly red lined at 8600 and could push to 9000 rpm on a rare occasion and I have the pail of parts to prove it ) and generally get a big jump on a BBC. The driver of the BBC tries to hit to catch up but now by the time he gets the revs up it a very close loss.Usually 3 to 4 tenths of a second. That was when track surfaces were plain old asphalt same as the roads had Now with the great surfaces that are designed to be sticky and tire tech you no longer see that. Paving and tire tech is why almost every car including some stockers get air under one wheel.

9 grand is seriously impressive. 8600 is about the high end we like to go with the sprint cars and that is screaming too. Nothing sounds better than rpms though. That is just awesome.

Methanol, 16 lbs of boost and apparently it leaned out. What little of the block was left intact was bolted to the heads.
