Just finished up detailing the taillights. Not perfect but not too terrible. I can live with ‘em. Edit - man I need to figure out how to make my pics smaller. You can see WAY too much detail with these larger pics.🤪 Those tail lights look GREAT Jeremy! I will say that Model Car Garage has a PE update set that makes these tail lights a cinch. What photo hosting service are you using?

What photo hosting service are you using? I'm kicking the PE idea around. I'm not happy with the molded in trim rings on headlights anyway. It looks like it's been in a slight fender bender. Just not sure I'm ready to make the leap yet. I've never worked with the stuff yet. Dunno. We'll see.

Will have to go back and look but they DANG sure came with the inner rings and those made ALL the difference. The front headlight trim bezels have to be painted on ever so carefully with something like Molotow or AK Chrome. Those get done dead last. Make sure you trim the headlight lenses to a smaller circumference or they will sit on top of the headlight buckets instead of into them.

That is one seriously sexy Camaro, Joe! Wow! Sally's out doing the black friday thing (yuck!!!) with a friend, so I'm taking advantage and getting some quality bench time in today. I was planning to lightly weather the floor pan, but now I’m really having second thoughts. I originally shot it with oxide red primer, and then recently clear coated it so a wash would flow better. I was going to do all the weathering and then flat coat the whole thing. Today I did just a small amount of detail painting prior to doing the weathering, and honestly I’m really pleased with the look as it sits. I think the gloss helped create more shadows and depth, and that was the main reason I wanted some light weathering to begin with. I’ll think about it for a bit, but I’m pretty content with it like this.

That’s a great start to that chassis Jeremy and I like the outcome on the fuel tank. Honestly I cannot remember how I painted my chassis up. I’ll have to go look.

Great work so far. This generation corvette is my favorite. I have the 70 1/2 Baldwin kit from AMT in the stash. Waiting for my skills to improve before I build it. I want to keep that one for myself so I want it to look as good as these two!
I just love the grill, and the split bumper. Looks awesome. And the rear spoiler. Its a beautiful car!

As has become the norm lately, I’m flipping back and forth between this and my beetle project this afternoon . That one is at a standstill right now while paint and cement cure. While that’s happening, I did some detail painting on the Camaro firewall, and got it installed. These two kits are really starting to get fun again now that I’m starting to see progress. I’ve been looking for a good dark grey that would look right over black for just such applications and I think I finally found one I’m pleased with. This one is Model Master Engine Gray (4749) on the wiring. It’s about the darkest gray I have currently. And here it is in its new home-

Camaro is looking awesome. Your Model Master gray looks really nice. As those are increasingly hard to come by, Have you considered NATO Black, rubber black, or tire black from Tamiya/Mr Color or any of those lines? All of those colors tend to be "almost" black. I love using them for hoses or in interiors to set things off from other shades of black.

I like your cork over the knife trick. I don't drink wine so I used foam but do the same thing.

I’ve been looking for ways to improve the appearance of areas like this for quite a while. Any areas that are basically all black (interiors, firewalls, chassis, etc. Thanks for the lead.

That work on the firewall is looking swell Jeremy and I like that color on that car body. Fabulous work on this beauty of a build man.
That cork idea is a good one. I use a zip tie around my knives to keep em from rolling around. lol

I like the color you chose! Firewall turned out great with the contrasted wiring color

Exactly how I feel. I got the NATO black for a military build a long while ago but then realized it was very useful in other ways. Then Tamiya’s rubber black I bought to paint plastic or resin tires but same thing. It’s just off a true black so it brings a nice contrast.
