AMT 59 El Camino-A Gift

[406 Silverado]

I built this around 6 years ago for a kid named Jonathan who was a longtime friend of my son. He received this kit for a birthday gift and after coming over to the house, asked me to build it. The kit is an old mold and is quite crude in quality, but I think I managed to work some of the bugs out of it anyways. I didn't do a whole lot of research on this car and the avid enthusiast will be able to pick up on that pretty quick but still I'm pretty happy with the turn out. I've just about perfected my painting method on autos, and I got ALOT of practice with bare metal foil. A special thanks to Mike sharp for the wheels to aid in the construction of this car. The Revell 348 engine was also donated by another friend from another site (whom I will be inviting to come here). The engine that came in the kit was c.r.a.p.

This kit gave me a run for my money alright. I'm just glad the kid (and his dad) were happy with it.

Thanks Jeremy. Right now I can't remember exactly but it was a Testors Maroon metalflake that I dispensed from the can and shot through the airbrush and then cleared with Testors Wet Look Clear.
