The foliage turned out to be pretty stunning in northern VT, NH, & MA.

Glad to hear that you got to see some!
Where I am, 20 miles north of Boston, the leaves are mostly still green!.
Interesting to read your comments comparing New England to Alaska.
I've lived in New England most of my 64 years, I have traveled to Alaska quite often.
While I love New England, and can't imagine living anywhere else, I find Alaska breathtaking.
I guess maybe I'm just used to New England.
Home, while always special, must have a certain everyday quality to it. Not mundane, but familiar.
