Here is 1 of 3 scratched 1/72 scale Luft '46 jets with 3 view colorplates borrowed from the Luft '46.com website. The first one up, is a Heinkel He P.1078A. It is made of solid aluminum and some brass. I milled out the cockpit, inlet, exhaust and landing gear bays. The body, wings and empennage were bandsawed, then ground heavily with a dotco pneumatic grinder. The wheels and missiles were turned on a lathe. All major components were then pinned together with either 1/16", 3/32" or 1/8" dia. Dowel pins. A vacuum formed canopy is from Squadron products. The panel lines were scribed with a carbide tip, and the different panel shades were made with changing direction of sand paper and different grits, along with scotchbrite: WIP photos: 🤓

I've always liked the Luft 46 aircraft and this is quite the collection of subject material here Dan. Beautifully built and painted up one and all. It was really neat (and a little scary) to see what those guys had up their sleeves at the end of the war.

Amazing work!! Very cool and unique subjects too Thanks much! I think so too. Those are really cool builds! You did an awesome job spraying camo on couple of those! 👍 Thank you kindly! Flat out amazing work. Well done. Thank you very much! What a great collection! I really like the metal finish on the P.1078A Thank you very much! I do too, that was the most difficult but the most rewarding as well. I've always liked the Luft 46 aircraft and this is quite the collection of subject material here Dan. Beautifully built and painted up one and all. It was really neat (and a little scary) to see what those guys had up their sleeves at the end of the war. Thank you Joe. I am too about the Luft 46 jets, and thought it ironic how early allied jets were similar to these designs.

Metalworking?? That's a whole different skill set right there!
I think the Junkers "unnamed bomber" is my favorite overall. That one is very sharp.

Very impressive trio of builds! The first one, machined from solid aluminum, is nothing short of amazing!

Its fun to challenge yourself to see what happens. 🤓

Thank you kindly. I worked at an aerospace company, and had access to milling machines, lathes, etc. So it made easy work of some of these parts. 🤓 Thank you, but I bet you are much better than you think. 🤠
