Put the Panther rebuild to the side and got in some wargaming for a break. Decided to restart this old Shanghai Dragon Sturmpanzer Brummbar. The kit has sat partially assembled since at least 2014 when I took a break from model building all together. Still some touch up painting to go until I start weathering. The green color is rattle can with the model masked with Silly Putty.

Boy, those Shanghai Dragon repops were really priced right back in the day.

I still love those Dragon kits and I wish they didn't jack up the current prices too much. Great work on the camo!!!

I still love those Dragon kits and I wish they didn't jack up the current prices too much. Great work on the camo!!! When I got back into the hobby I looked at Amazon for Dragon kits and found very few, when I asked at another forum if that was because of covid I was told the same thing about their prices being to high for what you get. When I broke from the hobby Dragon kits were everywhere.

That is a really clean camo pattern, love the colors, excellent! I'm with Steve on that camo pattern. Very nicely done and I'm looking forward to the weathering on this bad boy. I've still got one Dragon kit in the stash but it's a 1/48 scale Mistel kit with the Ju-88/ Fw190 combo. Very impressive kit and I got a decent deal on it BUT........I got the decent deal around 8 years ago. God knows what that kit would cost now.

Nice Mike. I like this and looking forward to seeing the finished product. Ditto the remarks about Dragon. They were everywhere at a good price.

Looking really good! Did you airbrush or brush paint the camo? The green is rattle can, I masked with Silly Putty, then hand painted the brown outlines.

Almost done. Some weathering chalks here a touch of paint there. This turned into a longer project then I anticipated, the plastic after all the years seems to have become brittle, at least I don't remember Dragon Shanghai kits being that way. Both exhaust stacks broke off and defied all super glue. I ended up drilling holes in the back plate, cleaned up the bottom of the exhaust and used bits of a paper clip to hold them in place. The Indy links were also a nightmare just trying to get them to stick with liquid cement, but here CA glue came to the rescue. Makes me nervous just moving it from one place to another. If I drop it I have a feeling it will go off like a grenade and spread plastic shrapnel all over.

That looks terrific. You did a sweet job on painting the camo and then weathering it. Glad to see you bring this to the finish line.

Wow, sounds like this one is fighting you a bit in the finishing stages. But you've got the finish line in sight and the drive to get there! Looking good!

If I drop it I have a feeling it will go off like a grenade and spread plastic shrapnel all over. I missed these last couple of updates with the painting, weathering and final detail processes Mike. Man do I ever know what you're talking about in regard to dropping a model in fear of it becoming a plastic grenade. I cringe every time I have to handle one of my builds for that very reason. This is looking great despite the issues with adhesion and brittle plastic that you're having. Looking forward to more on this beauty.
