Man that looks COOL!!! At first it looked like a cutaway at the L/H front of the vehicle but on a closer look I see that it's a weapons station. I'll be looking forward to this for dang sure Ossie ( ossie262 )!!

Is that true? They're already gone? Yes. There were not kept in service for very long. So what's the poop? Were they not operationally effective? Or did a change in doctrine make them redundant? Or was it a case of budget shortfall? I had read that armored cars with big guns are not very stable when firing. Makes sense, as they're lighter, narrower, and taller than most MBTs. Still, an 8-wheeled AFV packing a tank gun always looks super cool.

According to the Army’s official story, it had become obsolete. It did not have the double hull to protect against mines, and the autoloader was troublesome and expensive to maintain. There are also reports of the vehicle tipping over when the gun is fired to the sides, so that was likely a contributing factor.

What a super cool subject issue. This should be one righteous build with all the extras included. I am on board with ya compadre.

T here are also reports of the vehicle tipping over when the gun is fired to the sides, so that was likely a contributing factor. That'll do it. Anytime the potential exists for casualties or injuries as a result of a design, the equipment will get deadlined until an investigation is conducted. Once that's complete, there'll either be a design change or they'll take the equipment out of service.

Always looked at this idea with a jaudinced eye; not surprised to hear they were not a success. That's an awful lot of gun to have high up on a relativley light vehicle that runs on tires. Think the Army will give me one and a supply of ammunition if I promise to research and fix the problem?
Ossie this is gonna be great

hi all so started on the MGS kit . my first issue is two little wedges one the front lower hull bottom, corners were broken , check my other one and my m1132 ESV all the same so started the build having removed some of the detail to enable me to start adding some the new unarmoured parts to the kit. i must say after just 30 mins I am this far it just falls together . so I dry fitted the the other half of the armour for the hull making sure it fits ok before fitting the suspension. I do have additional etch side plates but i might just use the kit ones some cleaning up to do next . camera shows all imperfections hope you like it so far. ossie

Dig those huge rivets!!! That’s one of the reasons why I had to buy a Stryker kit!

hi all so todays update is about wheels good and bad . so must admit I have used the AFV Club Rubber tyres before so know what they are like to use. my pervious Stryker so I decided to but some after market wheels so i choose Panzer Art wheels , i let you make your own mind up about the casting but gaps around the rim to tyre . so when i put them along side a AFV club one they are two small this is due to the way they have been made and cast . so I built the wheel hubs fitted them and decided to see how bad they look on the hull. looked ok but then I added two AFV club wheels to the outer wheel stations , 2 mm gap under the two resin wheels so i now am using the AFV Club ones and I have now added all the bits to the wheels they are all fitted next we start the rest of the lower hull hope you like it so far Ossie

These vehicles (based on an original Canadian design) are built about 2 miles from my house. See them driving around all the time. Boy do they tie up traffic but nobody road rages at them!

I've gotta say that I'm really impressed by the level of detail on the suspension. There's a TON of stuff going on in that department. That really blows about the aftermarket wheels and tires that you bought being too small as that's really a big size difference. Sometimes it's just "hit or miss" when venturing outside of the box on details. Glad to see that you have a set that will work with this build. Looking great so far Ossie!!

You sure ain’t the only one that has an issue with breaking small parts off Ossie. If I had a dime for every time I did that…….well ….you know. …

Yep me and my fat fingers rarely get along with the small parts. Your build is looking good with the wheels on now!

hi all so I managed to do some model making today for a couple of hours. The trouble when you have having so much reference material you tend to look what's right and wrong wit the kit has you build it . I know rivet counter lol. so i spotted teh rear handle was teh wrong shape and wrong place so manufactured a new one using brass wire and added it to the kit . antenna bases have not been added awaiting new def and voyager antennas for this kit and my m1132 ESV yes the bent handle is now straight lol hope you like it Ossie

Looks great - lots of progress. I don't generally build armor mostly because of the finicky tracks and all those road wheels. I've been looking at this kit off and on the past year so I'll be following. I may have to grab one.
