Nice kit and luckely also resin and not all white metal Are the kabels electrial stuf in the kit? Yes they are. But the rubber boots very difficult to drill out. They are too soft so a drill just twists them. I'm still experimenting with a way to do it. Mayby help it to put the rubber boots in the vriezer then the rubber gets harder for some time.

Is there any special history behind this car? Or is it just a favorite of yours?

Was just curious if it happened to have any special interest. Very cool race car. And the build so far looks like a lot of fun. Well, minus those rubber boots!

I don't understand MFH's choice to supply the top part in metal. It seems to me that the door can simply be made from one piece of resin minus the inside? Fortunately, not a real problem and it fits well, as you can see in the photo.

Fortunately, not a real problem and it fits well, as you can see in the photo. The top part is two pieces which sandwich the glass between them. I forgot about the fourth door piece until you mentioned that. I would think two resin pieces might be either too thick or too fragile. BTW....the freezer trick didn't work. They were still too flimsy to drill. Either that or they warmed up too quick.

Looking good Paul!! Nice work getting those doors squared away. Thanks Kyle I got a lot done this week-end. First I jigged up all of the exhaust parts to make sure they lined up before paint. Then I got some paint on them along with the parts to complete step one. I also have the engine/trans about 90% complete. 805

Since the freezer didn't produce workable solution,,I was thinking of going the opposite way and heat up a needle and push it into the boot.

Love the progress on the engine. That’s looking excellent. And a great start on the chassis too. You’re making great progress!

Since the freezer didn't produce workable solution,,I was thinking of going the opposite way and heat up a needle and push it into the boot. Perry, I tried the heated needle on the spark plug boots of the BT45. It was tough getting the needle in the right heat range. Too hot and it tried to melt the rubber. A little cooler and it would lose to much heat before full penetration. I've been cleaning out several boxes of model stuff I've accumulated and ran across this. I haven't tried it yet, but it might be the solution. Love the progress on the engine. That’s looking excellent. And a great start on the chassis too. You’re making great progress! Thanks Kyle. I think I've made enough progress on this three year build that I can focus on something else. Plus I'm waiting for some CF decals to arrive. Just caught up with this again and your progress is outstanding! You are just nailing the detail on this! Thank you Brent.

I have a 1:1 Alfa Romeo in the garage, so I really need to pick up an AR model some day. I like this one though!

Man....the level of detail that is available in this scale is scary. Beautiful progress on this this car and that engine as well as the exhaust system is the frickin' bee's knees. VERY good work going on in this thread Paul.

This is going to be very fun to follow as big as this kit is. Plenty of opportunities for detailing I'm sure. I've never seen a GB go for three years but these big builds like this would tend to take alot of time alright. Looking forward to this Paul. I was thinking the same thing, on length of time for the GB… I’ve never seen one run beyond a year at best, but I figure this is a great opportunity to build several enties! Is the driver Danish because I am seeing Denmark flag? I am a big fan of Denmark myself and I have been there 3 times for last 15 years. You will definitely have my attention... good luck! Oooooh, I Love danish… especially cheese or lemon! …wait, we’re talking about the same thing, right?!?

Nice progress on the Alpha. looks like you had quite a bit of work on the exhaust to get it aligned properly. Good looking engine block.

Do you know why the exhaust is turned upward? I have no idea. But if I had to guess, it would have to do with aerodynamics

Do you know why the exhaust is turned upward? I have no idea. But if I had to guess, it would have to do with aerodynamics I've been under the impression it's for noise abatement. Many track (like Laguna Seca for example) have db limits and monitors around the track. Cars over the db limit get black flagged

I've been slowly chipping away at this one lately. As you can see from the first picture, there is a gap between the rear firewall and package tray. I've been researching other builds of this kit and am going to go with a carbon fiber area. I epoxyed those two pieces to the frame. Once dry, I filled the gaps with Bondo glazing & spot putty. Once sanded smooth, I used Scale Motorsports carbon fibre on it. 1373

Excellent! How did you like the SM carbon decals? I opted for Tamiya over them. But have heard good things.

Excellent! How did you like the SM carbon decals? I opted for Tamiya over them. But have heard good things. I like them OK. I used them on the interior of the 333 and it was a learning curve for me. They are thin and like to fold over if you're not careful. But they react well to Solvaset. Even the day after. I put the top piece on and left it for a day. Then I came back with a new X-acto blade and made the notches for the roll bar. I've got some Tamiya ones, just haven't used them yet.

Nice to see you back at this one. The rear bulkhead and package tray areas look great in carbon. Wonderful idea to get through that gap issue. I agree too. Definitely a learning curve with those scale motorsports carbon decals.

Very cool, I wanted to buy a kit but by the time I made up my mind they were all sold out. The Alfa is one of the coolest racing cars. I've seen all the races, Alfa, Mercedes, Ford and Opel. Wheel to wheel. Enjoy the sound……… youtu.be/jM8ZTwTuJCQ?feature=shared
