Commercial hobby weathering pencils: Something of interest to those wanting to try something different, in terms of weathering techniques. ------------------------------------------------------- In addition to the post I made, regarding weathering pencils from AK-Interactive, here is another alternative, to the AK-Interactive ones. The artist used just normal coloring pencils to achieve pretty much the same look. Now, I do not know the brand he used, but you pretty much get the same look, judging by the photos. Just another tip from me to you. You can definitely give it a try and see how it fares. But like everything in this hobby, there is a trial and error period, until you reach pure perfection. Another minor tutorial for those who want to try using regular weathering pencils:

Nice!!! I used those for the first time on my Spitfire and it took me a while to use it properly. They can be wiped off too easily if you are not careful.

I keep thinking I must get me some of these. Have seen very good results and much easier to control than a AB or paint for really fine work.

I have the entire set. Still learning on how to use them. AK does make a book on it that you can get digitally.

That is impressive and most definitely a useful tool. The effects are intriguing, rather realistic. Awesome, Charles, who'd a thunk it?

I also have the complete set and I am always into any tips or tricks for using them. I have yet to actually use them on a model, but I am going to give them a shot on my Panther. Thanks for sharing this.

I likely should have just purchased the entire set...I think I ended up buying all of them individually in the 5-packs. I recently got the AK book as well - it shows some very cool effects, but falls a little short in showing how to achieve said effects. They sort of hand-wave a bit and suggest that you "figure it out".

Are these watercolor or a colored graphite? Not exactly sure, but I'm guessing a special mix, which is based on water color. But I'll find out.

This weathering pencils has a specially formulated with the most suitable basic colors to achieve all the effects in a very simple way. Use our weathering pencils for your models.
