Not sure if they have always carried them, but I just got an e-mail from HobbyNut Models saying that they carry Flory weathering products. If that's a new thing they're carrying, that is great news for modelers to have another state-side source.
High Altitude Hobbies in Leadville, in my state of Colorado, is another great dealer...and they carry the full line of Flory products.
Can't say enough good things about Flory for weathering.

I've heard good things about these washes but have never used them. Maybe time to check them out? Thanks for posting this eagle.

No problem Joe! They changed everything for me. Gone are the days of careful application and meticulous, careful removal. You just slop this stuff on, leave it on as long as you want...and come back to it with a damp sponge whenever you get time to come back to it. HUGE time saver and takes away the stress of ruining a perfectly good paintjob when your clearcoat was too thin in one spot and the solvent you were using to remove the excess wash cuts right into the paint...or you got pulled away by something and left it on too long. Always hated that. Don't have to deal with that anymore.

I've heard good things about these washes but have never used them. Maybe time to check them out? Thanks for posting this eagle. Hi Joe I have used them on my Mossie and Raiden after a recommendation. As EC said a complete game changer. Have a look here.... www.florymodels.org/washes. The person who recommended them to me said they last for ages. He had this to say on it..... "I bought four bottles probably 8 - 10 years ago and still have them. The colours i bought were Rust, Light Dirt, Dark Dirt and Black. Personally, i wouldn't buy the Rust as i think the AK/Mig rust streaking fluids are far better. But the other three fulfil all my requirements on all my builds. The light dirt is the fluid i used to weather the black on the underneath of my Bf109 nightfighter. And i think it made a good job of it." Hope that helps. Andrew

Good news. I love the stuff I got this set a while back and I've done several models. All my aircraft get the treatment (unless its NMF)

Nice F-4B, John! Which manufacturer is that one from? Used Flory (Grime, I think) on my Tamiya F-4B.

I’ve also heard nothing but great things about the Flory washes. These results look great. Definitely going to have to pick some of these up and try them out.

406 Silverado , kyledehart5 Gentlemen......I am not a demanding man normally but if you can afford them....I INSIST you buy some, I really do!! I know this may come across as a tad impolite but I INSIST!!! Below are some shots from the Mossie I completed earlier this year.....you can see the effect best on the underside, where the clay has settled very nicely around the rivets....even perhaps a bit too much at this scale. Really nice results. Do I get regular or thick? What’s the difference and is one better? Such an interesting product but it sure seems to work. I've just been using the regular on mine. I wasn't even aware they had a thick version of it until I got that e-mail from HobbyNut. The regular works great. Just make sure you have a dedicated brush that you just use for applying Flory, and it doesn't have to be an expensive brush. To clean my brush afterward, I just rinse it under hot running water. For removal of the Flory from the model, I use ordinary sponges that I chop up into smaller sponges. Just dip the sponge in water, wring it out until its barely damp, and then wipe...and repeat. The sheeh of you paint/clearcoat will determine how much staining you get with the Flory. The flatter the paint/clearcoat, the more staining you'll get. Sometimes you want more staining, other times you don't. I give it about 30 minutes to dry before removing it. You can leave it on your model for months though, and still be able to remove it easily...so its really handy for situations where stuff comes up that pulls you away for a while.

I seem to remember reading that you need brushes dedicated just to Flory, otherwise brushes with other mediums on them can contaminate the Flory

Had no idea there were different versions.....this is what the order i got says....and it does not seem to be very thick.... hope it helps..... - Flory Models Black weathering wash FMW001
- Flory Models Dark Dirt weathering wash FMW002
- Flory Models Light weathering wash FMW003.
As for the brush issue that eaglecash867 and Tojo72 have mentioned, what he says in the video is to pour out some into a tray, rather than put a brush in the bottle direct. This is because if there are any chemicals on the brush, they can ruin the mix and turn it into a gloop. As I understand it, it is simply water and very fine clay particles. HTH Andrew

I've used them and they work great! For a few builds I made my own color mixture using powdered pastel chalks, water and a drop of dish soap to break the surface tension

Oh...that's right! I forgot to mention that I use a plastic pipette to transfer a little bit to one of my aluminum paint trays, and dip the brush in there.

Well DANG… OK OK, already! Sense it was insisted on, how could I not comply! I just ordered the 8-bottle wash set from High Altitude Hobbies, on their Turkey Shoot Black Friday sale that ends in another 3 hours at 3pm EST (…juuuuuuuuuust under the wire!) …seeing the recommendations and the pictures, I figured, though indeed expensive, it’s worth a try! I’ve struggled trying to get those kinds of wash effects I’ve been seeing here in this thread; I started with diluted chalk washes, watercolor and oils, wash bucket sludge, all to limited success, but still not comparable to what you lads do. Let’s see if it’s a Game Changer, as mentioned above!

A bit of artistic license here with a dark sea blue Hellcat. I used the light wash to accent the panel lines You'll love these washes!

I’m looking forward to the potentials these bring, as well as upping my game! A bit of artistic license here with a dark sea blue Hellcat. I used the light wash to accent the panel lines You'll love these washes! That’s a great point on artistic license, as I do like to enter that dog house now and then and pet the pooch (I’m not sure what that really means, but it sounds good and gets the point across!). What drew me back into modeling about maybe 15+ years ago was how far the hobby had come in terms of finished work looking like artwork; my degree and post college studies and work was in fine art and I find an outlet for those energies in building models. Tools like these washes are just a means to push the artistic presentation in my way of approach.
