Current project, the Clear Prop Bayraktar drone in 1/48 scale. Clear Prop has also released several upgrade sets that I acquired as well; masks, etched, and resin wheels. The parts are well done with very fine panel lines and details.

Sweet choice scruffy. I am interested to see how this builds up for you. I have a Clear Props Mig-23 and I'm curious how their fit tends to be. It will be fun watching you build this.

That “work” can be pesky, if I remember correctly….really neat project, Scruffy.

So, got a little spare time over the weekend to get started on this, main fuselage together, needs some very slight seam work and some photo etch added before continuing. The model is going to rather small; I was surprised by just how tiny this is even in 1/48th scale!

Great to see you back at it scruffy! It looks like it's going together nicely. Do you have anything to compare it with size wise so far? It's hard to judge in the picture, I would think 1/48 scale the wingspan would be decent size

While I have one project waiting for paint, I picked back up on this one. The control surfaces on the wings needed to be lightly rescribed, so I was able to accomplish that without too much trouble. Scribing is not an activity I enjoy; I have about a 35% to 40% success rate I would estimate. If it was closer to like 85%, I would probably enjoy it more and create far less work for myself fixing mistakes. Anyway, the lines have not been cleaned up in the picture, just given a light wash of Tamiya Extra Thin and a light sanding. I have also tweaked the joining surfaces of the wings and fuselage to help the fit a bit.

I agree 100% about scribing panel lines. It looks like you handled these with a great result!

I hear you about scribing! I hate when that scriber jumps the panel line! Do you use a guide? I use Dymo label making tape to help guide my scribing tool on straight lines...

Very unique aircraft . I've heard that Clear Prop kits are really nice and build nicely . Scribing is not my favorite task, I feel your frustration. I use the tape made for scribing as well, it does help.

I agree 100% about scribing panel lines. It looks like you handled these with a great result! Thank you, prestience paid off in this case! I hear you about scribing! I hate when that scriber jumps the panel line! Do you use a guide? I use Dymo label making tape to help guide my scribing tool on straight lines... Thanks John, I do have several rolls of the Dymo tape as wells as the more flexible clear panel line scribing tape. It really just comes down to more practice to hone the skill. Very unique aircraft . I've heard that Clear Prop kits are really nice and build nicely . Scribing is not my favorite task, I feel your frustration. I use the tape made for scribing as well, it does help. Clear prop kits are very nice, the scribing is very refined. They usually go together well, I have had no real issues with this one, and will definitely build more of their kits. I have multiple rolls of the clear panel scribing tape alos, it is not so much an equipment issue for me as a skill issue! The tails have been added, they fit pretty well and considering the small diameter of the tail booms, end up forming a surprisingly sturdy assembly. I will let them firm up for another day before addressing the seams and blending them all in. This completes the major assemblies of the model, just small detail items to add now.

It's coming together nicely!. The overhead profile shot highlights what you said about the delicate looking tail booms.

Your progress report is a good one indeed. I'm glad that the tail assembly is nice and sturdy after seeing the size of both of those tail booms.

About ready for paint All filling, rescribeing, etc. finished. Just a bit of masking and several delicate parts to add and off to the spray booth it goes!

I think I'm the only one that likes rescribing. I find it therapeutic. I have a ton of the Dymo tape too.
