The scale is 1/35, simply because, I had this vehicle on on that I did not know what to do with it. So I turn it from being a military truck to a civilian vehicle instead. This brand of trucks are sometimes used in the African regions so I thought I would use it for this build. I used whatever fits the bill, from old clothing, rubber, tissue paper, plastic, and odds and ends that I had saved in my ‘box of tricks’, to get the job done. I even added a toilet bowl to throw in some interest. The plastic yellow/orange containers are used a lot in many regions in Africa, so I painted and added them to the mix of odds and ends. I want to thank Ulf Lindgren for sending me the containers. These were 3d printed. He did and amazing job with the fine details of the containers. The drawings were provided by another great modeler, Peter Olsson. Thanks guys. Note. I just noticed, I had forgotten to shave off the thin rubber seam in the middle of the tyre on top of the cab. Have already done that and have moved that tyre into the cargo pile of junk. Otherwise, it was a fun build. Thanks for looking. ------------------------------------

An unusual and inspiring choice of subject (it made me reconsider what a Post-apocalyptic "Bug-Out" vehicle might look like) produced to your usual impeccable standard. Well, if you want to be that fastidious, may I suggest if you (or anyone else attempting such a build) might want to invest in a suitable aftermarket "Sagged Wheel" set? Or if going for a saloon or light pick-up, go for a kit which features a lowered, preferably "Slammed" suspension set-up, maybe something Japanese described as "Shakotan"? www.1999.co.jp/eng/10061936www.1999.co.jp/eng/10646898Regards, M

Now THAT is frickin' crazy right there! First off for your build and for the pictures that followed. I've seen this one somewhere before and it's just as jaw dropping the second time seeing it as it was the first time I laid eyes on it. Masterful work bud.

What a unique build! It looks so realistic with the pile of random items and worn look you gave to the truck. This looks reminiscent to some of the load outs our salesmen would do to their pickup trucks at the contractor supply I worked at. I saw many creatively used bungie cords back then.

I could have heavily modified the chassi, but it came after completing the build. Then I looked at other photos of real life similarities, and saw most heavy trucks did not even produced much sag or distress that you suggested. So I did not bother doing it. But it would have made it look even better.

I'm starting to regret broaching the subject, it's not fair carping about a very minor perceived issue with what is by any measure an outstanding and inspiring model. What makes it worse is that, on further reflection, I think the stance of your vehicle is appropriate... In terms of load, those vehicles showing most compression of the suspension/tyres are those which are most overloaded with people. Whether their possessions contribute to the load or not, the simple weight of a mass of people is often overlooked. At it's most gruesome, I recall an account of an airline disaster where a local official was describing their arrangements for storing the casualties was stunned when told how many tons of fragmented human remains they would have to deal with... Your vehicle doesn't have many load riders, therefore compressed suspension and sagged tyres may not be appropriate for your truck.
Aspies can get caught up in the minutiae of any subject to the detriment of the totality, for this I offer my apologies.
Regards,
M

Uh oh, Charles, you're in big trouble now. You've wiped out your spare parts box, what're ya gonna do now? Seriously incredible work, as expected, my friend. Your attention to detail is impeccable. P.S. From some of those photos, it's no wonder the hood is up, HA! It's amazing what people will come up with to get the job done.

But seeing there were so many prototype photos not showing what you suggested, I just went the easy route.

Buddy, I think I found you a perfect challenge for your next build... Yes, a bus, two cars and a lot of crap... Haha! Seen that one before. Good challenge though.

Awesome job on the model! That is pretty crazy! You gotta wonder how they keep everything balanced before they tied it up.
