Hello all. Christmas build time. Yes, I know I'm early but my life is very busy so builds are slow. Anyway, got this, looks nice, big enough that I can see the parts, let's go.

Oooohhhh that's niiiceee, maybe you'd like to fall into the Big Scale Group Build, BSGB, designed speciffically for large scale kits and slower builders. Should be able to find the thread in the Group Build Section. Build starts Jan. 2 2024, so that might help ya hold off until just after Christmas.

Just an invite, no obligation mence Thank you. I might leave it here for now as I want to start it soon as I have an auto build waiting behind it. I'm sure the lovely Moderators can move it if it suits better in January.

No problem mence, the GB runs for a very long time, if you choose to jump in later please read the guidelines and let me know. I'll be glad to have ya onboard. If no PLEASE DO post pics of the build as you feel, I have been eyeballing the Ontos just because it is so unusual. Plus I met a guy a long time ago who crewed one in Nam.

Hello chaps. Thank you for the kind support and fantastic reference images, certainly answers a few of the questions I had! We're off with a very modest start of the floor parts and a side. Encouraged by my early success of sticking more than two parts together successfully I pressed on with some of the drivers compartment and fuel cell. Paint is Mr Color #69 Off White. Not much but there's a few less parts in the box now...

Chaps. Another successful session at the kitchen table. Front section of the hull needs some work to make it locate without gaps, nothing too bad. The instructions would have you sorting the running gear by now, I have my reasons why I haven't done mine which I will share with you later. This may come back to bite me later in the build, time will tell.

I'm trying to limit the number of 1/16 kits I pick up for size reasons...I've been avoiding all of the "modern" armor. This isn't helping!!!

And the last update for a few days. The remaining fender is on, minor criticism is you get minimal contact points to glue them to, I'm sure when the upper hull goes on it will be fine but right now they are a tad flimsy for sausage fingers Mencie. Cheers.

Thank you Boss. Apologies for the long absence, life continues to throw me way too many curveballs. You and me both brother. My wife had some really tough health issues a few weeks ago and after that the newly rebuilt (5000 miles ago) transmission in my truck had a pump failure so I was without wheels for a week. Wife is feeling much better and my truck is now back on the road after reinstalling the transmission on Saturday in the rain. So in short......I totally get what you are saying about the curveballs. lol Glad to see you back Mence. Hope all is well with you.

Chaps. Most of the interior is in, at least in the lower hull. I will do some weathering mostly to the high traffic areas and complete detail painting as well.

There’s some really good detailing going into this one Mence and I’m looking forward to seeing what you do with this as far as weathering is concerned. One this is for SURE, these big builds lend themselves to a ton of detailing.

Chaps. I've started on the upper hull. The reason for tackling this next is because it's a bit warped, not bad but bad enough. If you then consider both fenders are slightly warped too, you get an idea of why i havent fitted the running gear first. I think it's going to take a fair amount of care and handling to eventually mate the upper and lower successfully. I'll add a few more bits before I do but already I can see some work is needed where the front of the hull joins the lower.

What's your plan to deal with the warping?

What's your plan to deal with the warping? Probably glue small sections at a time and clamp it until dry. It's too large to do in one go and some of the attachment points are pretty small.
