Hi all. Time to get back to the bench and get a good warmup in before the Butcherbird build. On the bench is Tamiya's P-38 F/G. Seems as though Tamiya is getting better and better with their engineering (not that there was anything wrong with it before). Fit is fantastic and any issues would be on me and my fat fingers. Needless to say I have had zero issues so far. Here is where we are at: Front office no issues and you have a choice for the two variants albeit a slight tweak to the control panel. Also be aware that there there are different holes to be drilled out depending again on the variant and loadout. Working on the landing gear now, have to assemble the nicely detailed gear doors which are a two part affair and perfectly detailed. Ill get some more shots up by this weekend. -Bob

Wow great progress. I've heard nothing but great comments on this kit. I have the J in the stash. Looking forward to the rest of your build.

Need to build 80 kits per year until I'm 100 to deplete my stash. Maybe I should sell a couple.

I haven't tried building anything Tamiya has released since, but this was the best engineered / best fitting kit I'd ever put together (as of Nationals...2021?). Wait until you get to the landing gear doors - they just...click into place. Mine aren't even glued. It made it so easy to slide them in and out for painting!

I've heard nothing BUT good about these kits since they hit the scene. Good detail and superb engineering and fit seem to be at the top of the pile when I see builds and articles on them. You've definitely taken good advantage of the detail in that pit Bob. And then there's the display of the good fit with everything just falling into place and in line in the latter pictures. Fantastic work my friend.

Everybody has such great things to say about this kit. And the P-38 has long been one of my favorites. I must get one eventually but until then I’ll watch along as they’re built on the forum. Great start!

DAMN! That was fast so it means the kit is great and easy to build. I have same kit and I can't wait to build it someday. Looking real good buddy!
