2024 "Born In The USA" Automotive Group Build

Well gang......the end of the year is fast approaching and that means there's a little over a month left on the Red Hot & Rollin' Group Build. I can't believe it's almost been six months since we've started that whole gig.
We've got the Fw190 Butcher Bird and a Big Scale Group Build coming up for the new year so I figured why not put another one together for the new year coming up. I figured we could do something like a GB for American built cars. I was going to do something like this around 7 years ago on FSM but life got in the way and it all got scratched. So when I started thinking about doing another GB for this forum my thoughts returned back to the ideas I had back then.

The theme will be centered around civilian vehicles built in the US and titled "Born In The USA".

Build Dates will run from 02 January to 03 June 2024

You can enter models in any stage of completion, as long as they aren't past around the 50% completed stage.

Crossovers are welcome.

Any scale, anything automotive but no military vehicles here please. Only civilian street, US based movie cars, and competition style vehicles.

Any and all aftermarket items are allowed. 

Share progress and pictures as you build.

You can enter at any time within the group build time frame.

Geeez I haven't even started on my build for the other one and it ain't gonna happen at this point. I do have a cool project that has sat at about 40% complete for a while that I may be able to pull off for this. Will have to dig it out after Christmas I guess.

I know the feeling. Still got that Kingfisher staring at me. But that's why it's within 2 feet of the bench top so it'll bug me to get it done. My Arado 234 sat for three years in one of the compartments behind glass to the right of my bench. Finally I got up the gumption to finish it. You'll get there man. I've got faith in ya.

You'll do great Jeremy and it'll be good to have you in here. When we get ready to start up, just start a thread under the group build header when it gets to that point. Looking forward to seeing what you'll be building......

I paid $1.50 for it at a dollar store in 2019. They had a shelf full of them. Just this one with no other models. I kick myself now for not buying a bunch but at the time I just sort of grabbed it as a joke or to throw in the back of an aircraft diorama or something. This was a 2007 release of the old kit but not a thing had been updated.

I am joining the gb with this kit ...


I remember that when the Starsky & Hutch series was launched in Italy (1979), it was an incredible success ... and the “striped tomato” became a real star, not least because in Italy it was not so easy to see a Gran Torino roaming the streets.

It's gonna be awesome to have you in this GB Rod. You're right about the Starsky & Hutch Torino being a big hit. When I was growing up in the 70's /early 80's this was one of the most recognizable and coolest cars around. Looking forward to this.......

I had this kit not too long ago and am now regretting clearing it out of my stash.  REALLY looking forward to having you in there and again really looking forward to seeing what you do with this one.

Another one that I had in my stash not too long ago and may still have this one. I've always liked the look of these cars as they just look so dang aggressive. Good choice Jeremy and will be looking forward to having you in the GB. You going with Dom's look or adding your own wheels and tire set up to it?

It's won't be Dom's car.  The kit has pretty nice looking stock Rallye wheels, and I might use them.  Either that or maybe something that looks 70's/80's aftermarket period correct.  Maybe slots or keystones or something like that?

I have other plans for the Dom wheels (insert evil scientist laugh here... )
