SWEET! Sometimes I forget to post WIP pics but at the end it feels great and rewarding because I can return to look at my past works. You definitely have my attention too.

Does this one have the option for left hand drive? Recently got a Tamiya kit to do my FRS and it is only right hand. Those wheels look bang on for the "gunmetal" option.
If this was a car site I would make the joke that the driver figure is probably a hairdresser. OH I guess I just did anyway.

Yeah, I am going to endeavor to do better. Not only to share with you guys but as you say, for documentation. Perfect color on that body Kyle. Will be looking forward to seeing this one in progress. Thanks Joe, should be relatively quick. Does this one have the option for left hand drive? Recently got a Tamiya kit to do my FRS and it is only right hand. Yes indeed, this does have options for left and right hand drive. I'll be building the left hand drive of course. Mom has never been a hairdresser, but the figure that came with it definitely is. Bookmarked! Looks great so far, I bet your Mom will be thrilled! Thank you! much appreciated.

Fun story, I had this basically all typed out and images pasted in and...I closed out the wrong tab and lost it all. Anyways, here is take two, and I hope I make it to the end this time. Like most Tamiya kits once you get going on it, you really get going, so the chassis is now all the way done. Here is the process. The front and rear suspensions build up as separate subassemblies that you then drop in as a whole into the chassis pan. A note on the chassis itself. Tamiya calls out a fairly intricate 3 color paint scheme but when I crawled up under my Mom's car I found it was entirely flat black, at least the chassis/floor pans themselves. It's all coated in a flat black. So that is what I did. Then I did my normal weathering, only a bit lighter just to add some interest and highlights. And then I built the front suspension...Which I forgot to photograph the before installation, unfortunately. So here it is installed. Then moved on to the rear suspension subassembly. I did remember to photograph this one. Installed that into the chassis as well as the exhaust. Exhaust I painted in various metallic tones to add some more interest. Totally artistic license there. I hope you enjoyed the look at the driveshaft, transmission and exhaust because bits of those are going to disappear with the addition of the skid plate. And after the addition of the previously mentioned skid plates. Now this has basically completed the chassis, but I went ahead and stuck the wheels on to see if everything was all good and sitting well. Next update will be after a ton of detail painting and decals in the interior portion. Has to be decent work as it will be seen. I will take my time on that portion.

I've peeked at these at the dealership when the wife's car has been serviced, looks like you nailed the chassis perfectly!

Your mom will be thrilled with this one. I know Tamiya also did the ND body style, the one before this. I just can't find one. I wanna do mine.

I've peeked at these at the dealership when the wife's car has been serviced, looks like you nailed the chassis perfectly! Thanks Brent. I went out to the garage and laid on the ground to see if it was necessary to follow Tamiya's paint guide or not...It wasn't. LOL. She lives in a mother-in-law suite on our house so the car is always there in the garage for me to look at. She doesn't touch it in winter. Your mom will be thrilled with this one. I know Tamiya also did the ND body style, the one before this. I just can't find one. I wanna do mine. I like that! Such great little cars. My mom's Miata is the first one I've ever driven and its such a blast to drive. I'd buy one based off that experience alone. I've seen that Tamiya kit out in the wild before. If I see one again I'll let you know.

Paint looks very nice. I am still mildly envious of guys that can do gloss paint jobs.

Did you spray Alclad over stripped chrome painted gloss black or over the kit chrome parts? They look great!

My builds (and paint) pale in comparison to the experts, but I am happy with how this has turned out. Great looking interior! Your Mom will be thrilled! Thank you very much! Did you spray Alclad over stripped chrome painted gloss black or over the kit chrome parts? They look great! Thank you! The wheels on this kit are on a white tree, so stripping wasn't necessary. But yes, I painted them gloss black and then dusted some Alclad over them to give them that gunmetal chrome look that her actual car has.

Not much to add here except we're getting very close to being done. Really isn't much to update on this kit. It's an awesome kit but also is a curbside, so once the interior is done its just little ticky tack stuff and then close it up. Here's a couple photos of it up on its wheels with the other Christmas present build. Just a couple more finishing touches and it'll be ready to go in the case to be given away.

This is indeed looking good Kyle. Dude......silver is a hard color to get right on any auto because of its tendency to show every single blemish but it looks like you're pulling this one off nicely!!

Oh it has a couple blemishes. It’s no show winning paint. But it is mostly uniform in its metallic-ness which I’ve had issues with before thank you very much!

This one is also complete and ready for gifting. I'll fire up a finished thread with more photos.
