Leave it in the black primer? I was at a car show a couple of years back and about half of the cars were in primer or "distressed". It is actually a things these days and your primer job looks great. The chrome and trim would pop. I was apparently ahead of leave it in primer the curve in the mid 90's

Wow you have a LOT going on around your bench! I'll be tuned into this one as well Ha, I always do Brent. It's the only way I can get anything done. LOL. Thanks for stopping in on all of them. Beautiful start on this Kyle. You're gonna LOVE all the BMF work you'll have to do to this puppy. lol Looking forward to more. Thanks Joe. I have a fresh box of #11s ready for that. And it would make the chrome pop. But I think I'm going to paint it with a color and be boring. lol. Great photo too!

Great photo too! Well how about some of the stock "Glamorous two tone" paint jobs then this is it right here. Frost blue over harbor blue, maybe upscale the white over black to a silver over black? I like sticking with darker colors to make sure all the bright work pops on this one. Lovely color combos.

Lovely color combos. Silver over black is going to hide all that beautiful chrome around the windows. The blues would be nice. A bit different than all the black, white and silver/grey that all cars today seem to be.

Showing off all that chrome is great, but these cars look good in just about any color. Epic styling. It'll be great whatever you decide.

Lovely color combos. Silver over black is going to hide all that beautiful chrome around the windows. The blues would be nice. A bit different than all the black, white and silver/grey that all cars today seem to be. That’s a beautiful example. Going through my paint colors to see if anything grabs my eye. The silver I typically use is MCW antique silver and it has some gold tones so I don’t think it really hides chrome. However I just used the same color combo on my 41 Plymouth, and even though I distressed that one a little bit I probably wouldn’t go back to that same combination. Showing off all that chrome is great, but these cars look good in just about any color. Epic styling. It'll be great whatever you decide. Thank you. I do agree with this as well. The styling from 1959 was so cool. Everyone went wild. So awesome.

Awesome project Kyle! I missed this one. Really looking forward to your updates. Beautiful start on this Kyle. You're gonna LOVE all the BMF work you'll have to do to this puppy. lol Looking forward to more. I was working on this kit about twenty years ago, before we moved. Got it so close to the finish line. Engine , chassis, interior, body paint, all done. And then I started the bmf... It's still sitting in the box waiting for me.

That artic blue has always caught my eye as well, I can't wait to see it on this if you go that direction. Kyle that Novi looks spectacular! You have a definite flair for capturing the look of vintage vehicles my friend

Still not sure what I'm doing with this build. I have some of the uglier chrome in the purple pond in the thinking that I'll respray it. And i got a start on the engine. The body remains in doldrums. It is not going to be a factory stock build by any means. I have a combo of two dark blues that I really like. From Brent ( handiabled ) actually and one of them is the darkest blue imaginable. I really love that one. And I have another order of paint coming in Monday so I'll have a couple more colors to test before I finally make a decision. I also did some mocking up on the car using some resin wheels I had and the stock wheels. This one takes a backburner spot too as I try to finish up my Dad's Novi. Sorry that one was deep into being built before I thought of a WIP so I can drop a teaser here but otherwise you have to wait for the reveal. Those set of wheels have my VOTE!

You should get it out and foil it. 😉 Not looking forward for that myself but as the group build theme is fat fenders, find and chrome, I suppose I’ll have to do it anyways. Lol Coming on very nicely indeed! These older US cars do look great! Thank you! I feel that’s the case with cars everywhere. They used to have style. Not nearly as much anymore. That artic blue has always caught my eye as well, I can't wait to see it on this if you go that direction. Kyle that Novi looks spectacular! Wanted this to be a mild custom so I wanted a somewhat fun paint job. We went with a more traditional blue acquired from Brent ( handiabled) for the main color. And then used a prism pearl from Gaia as the secondary blue color. Big fan of how it pops. Still needs clear but I think the 2 tone is fun. I think it will look good trimmed out.

That is looking great so far. How was that pearl paint to put on? I am looking for just the right scale level pearl British Racing Green for my 86 and I see they have about the right colour.

Have one of these in my tiny stash. Will be following along. Agree with deafpanzer regarding wheel choice.

That is looking great so far. How was that pearl paint to put on? I am looking for just the right scale level pearl British Racing Green for my 86 and I see they have about the right colour. I really like the Gaia paints. The ones I have are lacquer so they get cut 1:1 with Mr. Color Levelling thinner. They always lay down beautifully. If they have a color you think will work then I'd say go for it. I'm a fan of the color going on here! Looks great so far! Thank you! Just went through your WIP and you're doing a great job on this Kyle. Thanks Paul! That's gonna be killer when you get it clear coated. Thank you! Be a minute before I get to that. The old Model Master enamels take a bit of time to dry. Have one of these in my tiny stash. Will be following along. Agree with deafpanzer regarding wheel choice. It's a good kit. I may go with those wheels, although I'm also a big fan of the stock caps as well. Going to paint them up and see what I think again.

Update time! I have most of the chassis complete now, and also the engine is almost ready for installation as well. Now I just have to decide which direction to go on the interior.

I hate BMF. (one reason I only build race cars...no chrome trim) You're doing a much better job than I would be able to do.
