Hey! I was wondering if anyone was familiar with this kit and if so, would you recommend it? It appears to be the Kinetic 1/48 F-104C sprue(plastic parts) with the addition of Eduard PE, Resin parts, and masking. My other option would be Hasegawa F-104C and then purchase Eduard parts in addition.

I'm not much help on this kit Keith. The only one in 1/48 that I've seen built here is the Hasegawa kit by reserve (Mark). One thing I can do to help make sure this thread is seen is to keep bumping it back up to the top so that when folks hit the Recent Posts Icon in the toolbar that it'll be more visible.

I have the Canadian version around here someplace and although I haven't built it I did spend some quality time fondling the sprues and it looked outstanding.

SprueBrothers currently has 10-20% off all models for Black Friday. My finger is on the trigger lol.

Although I've never seen one in person, only online, the Kinetic F-104s look really nice! But the Hasegawa F-104s are pretty damn nice as well. That I can attest to from having one in my stash.

I have looked at both since I want to build the aircraft I fueled at the 1977 Tiger Meet in Germany. The Kintec is far crisper than the Hasegawa since the molds are much, much newer. I was standing behind the dude when he took this picture.

I’ve seen the F-104C at the USAF museum: I took a ton of photos the last time I was there.

The are all of a sudden abundantly available like the F-8 - of course after I paid too much for them on ebay. I have been looking at that kit as I dig the camo.

Well current day me would be thrilled and I would be all over it. However to 18 year old me it was just another day at work and one of a bunch of aircraft I had to deal with before I could hit the Junior Ranks Club to meet up with the Warrent Officer's daughter.

Don't know a thing about the Kinetic kit but I will say despite its age the Hasegawa kit is awesome; engraved panel lines, crisp molding, superb fit, no flash. I found it to be a pretty easy build, and while detail is not up to today's resin and 3D printed levels I thought it was more than adequate Hope this helps

That will be a terrific build TS. The Kinetic mold looks pretty sharp to me. I have the NATO version in my stash to build one day.

Thanks for the input everyone! I decided to go with the Eduard/Kinetic kit 😈 Doesn't the kit come with the seatbelts? It comes with a few pieces that appear to be seatbelt sections, but not as detailed as the separate seatbelt kit from Eduard. I’m not sure why Eduard has 2 different PE sets. I am okay with having extra/backup pieces. The first Eduard PE set I ever purchased was for the Airfax P40 in which I completely ruined the first set of seatbelts.

I knew the Kintec kit has some but wasn't sure about this one.

I think the Kinetic F-104 is one of their better ones.
