This is really a super cool build. I love what you have done here. I looks like something out of Judge Dredd. Very convincing work.

To say that all of the processes you’ve used so far make for a VERY convincing look would simply be an understatement MZ. This is mind blowing and inspiring stuff man. You mentioned that you have done armor in the past. Got any pictures of that? I have some on my flickr page. I'll have to reacquaint myself with flickr again. I haven't tried to share pics off it in a very long time. But here go some pics from today's work... I used black and buff oils. Black for some shadows and exhaust. Buff for rain and dirt. I glued the arms on this morning and the legs about an hour ago... Still have to do rust, grime up the joints a bit more, fine tune the rain marks and add a couple small parts on. Thank you everyone for the positive comments. They help more then you know right now!

I am blown away how it came out. Everything looks pretty realistic as it would have been how it should be!

Oils are finally all dry. Now, how much rust is too much? Lets fine out! Already stated, I'm starting with testors enamel rust paint. After brushing it on I hit it with bit of odorless turpenoid. It darkens as it dries. Once it is dry I will start going over these spots with different shades of oils and then donsome streaks with the ak pencils. I still want to add more grime and oil stains to all the joints.

Very nice touch adding rust as it really make the colors pop out even more!

More rust.... I used the vivid rust pencil wet and just dabbed it on all of the enamel spots. Then used a damp to wet brush and worked it in or removed paint where necessary. It's not this bright irl, but it is a bit bright. I will add more rust colors to it after allbthis dries. I'm mostly targeting the legs at this point, I want the legs tonshow more signs of wear and tear. I'm still working on the oil and grime around the joints. I'm also having issues with parts just falling off. The lower waist/hip area keeps coming loose. I was worried about this area before I cemented it together, there's very little area to cement. I've had to glue it 3 times now.

Wow, I can hear the metal creaking and groaning under the weight of the machine...and almost smell the rust and oil!

Thanks guys. Update... I finally got all the rust on. Some of it looks pretty good, some looks meh. I think I'll go over each "meh" spot and darken them up or just remove them. I need to get to the end on this one. Every time I pick it up I hear cracks and pops. Parts are still falling off. The internal areas glued together are coming apart, the arms are loose. There's a crack in one of the knees. The shoulder separated a bit and I can't really fix it without taking some of it apart, if I start doing that I fear it will completely fall apart. I tried to address those areas while I was building it, but some of the parts are so badly shaped it didn't matter. It's a kit originally engineered in the early 80's. I also had to glue the feet in place. They are spring loaded and will move around on their own. Made me a little nervous.

That's a scary thought especially that I can't hear those cracks and pops being deaf. Hope they stay together all the way to the finish line. I really like your rust work so far!

Thank you. Hopefully it does stay together. I've been extremely gentle with it the past weeks. I went over some of the scratches that did have rust and used the gunmetal pencil to make some fresh scratches.

I started doing some rust streaks... I broke out the normal watercolor pencils I have. The AK rust pencils are a bit bright. So I used these lighter colors to tone them down a bit. The pics still show up bright, but irl they are nice. Used them both wet and dry.

I set this aside for a bit, honestly ever time I pick it up I think something is going to break off of it. I still have a little more rust to get on it.

I have to say, that your chipping and rust work on this is the best I've ever seen on a Gundam. Beautiful, Beautiful work. It's so damn good; I'm giving you Karma for this one.
