Well folks, thought it was about time I contributed, and started a build. The main thrust of what I intend to be doing over the next year or so, will centre around my 'what-if' mountain top base, entrance diorama, R0423.
So before getting stuck in, I will set the scene.R0423 in all its glory, still a lot to do, but this will show you where i am heading.
R0423 is a Forward Operating Campaign Base (FOCB) located in mountainous Srumahh Region of a fictitious North African / Middle East combat zone. Sitting at 3167 metres it Is known by its occupants as Mount Olympus.
The camp houses a non-conventional force of Tier 1 Special Forces (SF) units from the DRAWL Alliance for the projection of short to medium duration ISTAR (Intelligence, Surveillance, Target Acquisition & Reconnaissance) and DA (Direct Action) operations over the surrounding 1200 square mile area.
A range of dedicated SF vehicles provide reconnaissance, offensive and support capabilities and post will show how I have developed these starting with Zeus.
ZEUS
Based on the Buffalo MPCV chassis, and provides all terrain ISTAR capabilities to mobile forces through the ‘PROPHET HORIZON’ package. A suite of tactical ISTAR and DA management systems and C3 (Command Control Communications) is accommodated within this platform with various Electro Optical/Infra Red sensors, communications and self defence package. Offensive and self defensive capabilities are provided through a 0.50 cal Heavy Machine Gun mounted within a Remote Weapons Station and two M240K 7.62mm Medium Machine guns, along with a passive self defensive Multi-Directional Counter Measures (MDCM) dispenser suite.
Here are some pictures of progress to date, jumped straight in to the internals.
Other vehicles will follow, and include;-
PEGASUS I & II.
Based on the MATV these vehicles provide rapid DA and CTR (Close Target Reconnaissance) capabilities. Armaments will include twin 0.50 cal Heavy Machine Guns, M240K 7.62mm Medium Machine Guns and the M47 40mm Automatic Grenade Launcher, along with Electro Optical/Infra Red sensors communications and self defence package.
HADES
Based on the HEMMITT, this vehicle provides mobile medium range all terrain fire support. Armed with 24 Raytheon Griffin ground lunched missiles, twin 120mm self loading mortars and 2 independent twin 20mm Bushmaster cannons, along with target acquisition sensors and self defence package.
Sorry for the long winded intro, but as always all comments and suggestions are most welcome.
Chris.
