That looks great Deafpanzer! I've got a few of Hobby Zone's paint racks, and I'm working on getting my hobby room all set up. I have pretty much an entire basement to work with. I'll be looking to this thread for inspiration on what to do next.

Impressive but I would never find anything. Who needs more than a square foot of working space anyway? Lol, this resembles my work bench except I don't have access to my computer at mine.

You do realize, Andy, that this now means that you no longer have any excuses to not be building all of the time. 😉 No kidding! Now I need to finish my Panther before the deadline. LOL This is really something Andy. What an effective way to organize all the tools and materials right there on the workbench. You good sir…..are to be envied. I am glad you liked it too! For sure my OCD meter is very happy right now... Impressive but I would never find anything. Who needs more than a square foot of working space anyway? LOL! It is a good thing my family in Buffalo doesn't live far from you so I can deliver you my old paint racks, cool? It is funny how we model on different space! Definitely no PC at my workbench or I will waste my time surfing the internet. I do use my iPad if I need for references even tho. That looks really great Andy! Thanks my friend! I planned to buy few sets when we were at AMPS Nats but none of vendors were selling those last time. Glad it didn't happen cause I got a better deal by buying the used sets from my friend. Wow, wow, wow! Love the layout...🤓 Glad you liked it too... many thanks! Andy, that is one good looking set up, and I'm sure that you will have years of good use of your new set up. Hopefully I can use them for atleast 25 years! Nice thing about those sets is that I can change the setting or take them with me to my future home. Thanks buddy! That looks great Deafpanzer! I'll be looking to this thread for inspiration on what to do next. Awesome! That's how I started with the paint racks but they were thru Ammo by HZ which was little different but it gave me a better idea. You will love the magnets feature that you can easily change the setting anytime. I changed at least three times until I am satisfied for now. Glad you liked it too! Thanks Dean!!! Impressive but I would never find anything. Who needs more than a square foot of working space anyway? Lol, this resembles my work bench except I don't have access to my computer at mine. Maybe it is a good thing cause we will build more that way... LOL

Definitely no PC at my workbench or I will waste my time surfing the internet. I do use my iPad if I need for references even tho. That is in my living room. It is my modeling, computer using, TV watching, cat petting, dinner eating, socializing, and general hanging out space. Often all at the same time! It looks horrid but I know where everything is.

Andy, Andy, Andy I hope you take what is about to follow in the way I which it is intended..... If you were not a fellow Mod/Admin and of course an all round top chap.......I could dislike you somewhat.....the first picture of your original bench, I thought was the revamped version.....I really did......honestly......given that I work on a small kitchen table it had me drooling with jealously and then..... ....then..... .....you go and Hobby Zone it to the MAX!!!.....that's just plain cruel old chap! In short, I am sooooooooooooooooooooooooo very jealous!!! Out of interest, have you got your will sorted out?? If not, I'm willing to be a beneficiary of your work room! In all seriousness, though that really is looking the business! ATB Andrew PS Out of interest, was the HZ stuff on special....and so you thought it would have been rude not to take advantage!?!?!? LOLOLOL! Your comment truly made me laugh out loud!!! I was worried that you would be upset that I removed the Union Jack flag. Don't worry because I will find a new spot for it along with other flags of my favorite European countries as soon as the new workbench is complete. I am very fortunate that I have a full sized basement so there's a lot of space here for my growing stash of model kits. I am sorry about your limited space situation so maybe you can expand the kitchen so it won't be an issue. Maybe I can help you? Why? Because I will be coming to England in August... I definitely will be in touch! Ah the Union Flag/Jack!! Luckily missed that otherwise that might have tipped my over the edge! Interestingly (at least I think so)....IIRC it is only called the Union Jack when flown at sea....otherwise it is the Union flag. Even more 'interestingly' on the 'flag' front, when the HM Queen Elizabeth II passed away last year, a lot of people over here couldn't understand why the Royal Standard wasn't flying at half mast when all the other flags were. The answer is that the Royal Standard NEVER flies at half mast....it flies wherever the ruling monarch is in residence and because the throne passes to the next-in-line immediately upon the death of the the ruling monarch, there is always a ruling monarch on the throne......but of course you can learn all that when you make it to this side of the pond!! I'll drop you a PM when I have a bit more time about your trip! Speak soon.

That looks great! I've eyed the Hobby Zone stuff for a while, I'm interested in hearing how it "works" for you after you've had some time to work with it. Anything you dislike about it? Thanks Brian! There's not much to dislike about those sets! I would say the only two thing I don't like... first is that it requires a lot of time to build each set especially those with 3 & 6 drawers! I found it to be effective to do three sets at a time so I can take turns to work when the glue is dry enough for next steps. Secondly, they are not that cheap... I consider it an important investment for my hobby so I can keep modeling for many more years. I was very fortunate that my friend has already built 15 sets so I only had to build 11 more sets.
Yeah other than the time it takes to build them, I have zero complaints.

adt70hk WOW! I am always learning something. My grandma was born in Exter, England but she married my American grandpa during WW2 when he was in Navy stationed in Plymouth. Medicman71 Roger that! I finally built last set on Friday so it's 99% complete now... it really feels good now but my fingers feel so weird from dealing with the wood and wood glue. LOL

I forgot to mention that it really helps to have clamps to hold the sets together while the wood glue is drying for 30-60 minutes. I am happy to report that my new workbench is now 99% complete! The only last thing I need to do is to wait for new white panels (3 drawers) for one of the sets that I found to be defective so they are sending me a replacement.
I had no idea how many paint bottles I have! Had to order another paint rack so I am good for now. But I might order two small corner drawers set later on... LOL Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have questions!

Time to upgrade me thinks! www.hobbyzone.bizChristmas is just around the corner and I think you are definitely not on the naughty list so go for it! Wow! The bench looks awesome! I want more of them but I honestly don't know what I'd put in all of them. Plenty of ideas... ammo, MREs, first aid, etc! LOL Right now I'd say about 75% of my drawers are full. I plan to fill up the rest with aftermarket stuff such as metal barrels, PE sets, and others. I still need to create labels because I forget where I put them sometimes... I am getting old you know?

Glad you like the new bench! Yeah I am still learning where I put the stuff away and I still need to make labels for all drawers. I am getting old but it sure beats keeping everything in two big drawers now.

Ya know Andy, most of my hitherto modeler's life I would have been overly happy to have a spot as in your before state, but well. Now it's time for you to feed pieces to the carpet monster and fill the air with paint fumes. Have fun!

Oh my, you've done gone full geek mode! But remember, a messy geek desk is a sign of a master model builder,.....or somthin like that, HA!
Pretty awesome set up, Andy. Never hurts to have everything within reach and know exactly where it is, cause I often times can't remember where stuff is even though I'm pretty organized, sheesh!

Thanks buddy... glad you liked it too! It was worth the money and time to build them especially that I love a clean bench. Ya know Andy, most of my hitherto modeler's life I would have been overly happy to have a spot as in your before state, but well. Now it's time for you to feed pieces to the carpet monster and fill the air with paint fumes. Have fun! LOLOLOL Fortunately I don't have to deal with the carpet monster in my man cave but I have to watch out for the vinyl monster!!! Things have been crazy at my work especially that we are going thru transition right now as I am being promoted to the Executive Director position next month so my free times and mojo have been very bad since January when they selected me to take over the agency. I hope things will be better when the transition is over. Believe me it is always good hearing from you my friend! Very nice You have more paints than the LHS !!! LOL! I am afraid many of those are more than ten years old so I am not sure if they are still good. I think Vallejo paint bottles are still good and they are still great for details and figures painting but not for airbrushing anymore. Me and my damn OCD thing that I spend more time cleaning and keeping my bench more than building the models! LOLOLOL Glad you liked it and I really love my new bench cause it is alot easier for me to store and find things now instead of throwing everything into two big drawers. I still need to add labels to the drawers cause sometimes I forget where I put them away...
