1/48 Hasegawa Ju-87 Stuka

[406 Silverado]

I finished this plane up around August of 2014. I had been waiting 18 years to build this and finally got around to it. I started with a Hasegawa offering and used an Aires cockpit update kit. I have the double throw down Aires update with the enigne and all but just couldn't bring myself to break up the lines of this beautiful snake motif on this particular bird that I chose to build. I also used an Eduard canopy mask and some Verlinden details in the forum of the oil reservoir access displayed just in front of the cockpit on the port side and the wing mounted machine gun internals on the port wing. Paints are all Master Modeler acrylics on the exterior.

Depicted here is aircraft T6+CP of 6/StG 2 from Libya in 1941 and was flown by Leutnant Hubert Polz. Its one of the more interesting schemes out there for Stukas. The color of the motif from what research I have done is still a mystery. It's either red or tan. I had both but chose to go with red due to the more sinister look of the red.

That snake is very unique and cool! I’ve seen a few people over the past year do a Stuka with a similar theme, but yours is hand down the best! I’ll get my Stuka posted over the weekend at some point. I have always been a huge fan of the African campaign German planes.

Awesome, Joe! love the paint job. Reminding me just a little nit of my 190 A8 from JG300. I'm sorry that I get so sidetracked in the GB section. I have been missing a lot of great stuff, this included. So looking forward to the 190 GB. You're rockin' man.

Thanks Brandon. That was definitely NOT fun to put that cal on the sides. It wasn't long enough so I had to graph a section in from another decal set to make it the correct length so that added "fun" on top of the existing difficulties that I had putting that bad boy on.

Hey Dave, thanks for the "good word" and I seem to remember a 190 having a snake down the side. Things are no fun to put on. Eduard is just about set to release a Stuka coming up......just sayin.
