Hasegawa 1:48 P-40E

The very first kit I built as a kid was the old Monogram P-40 kit. My mom bought it for me from K-Mart. Had to have been around 1978 or 79. That one kit started a lifelong passion for building models. This build made me a little nostalgic I guess.

I'm sure the one your mom bought for you was the old Monogram offering right? If so, I built that one as well as a kid. Those were fun times as those kits were really simplistic and easy to build for the most part and like you.....it all started a lifelong passion with me in modeling. The Hasegawa kit is light years ahead of the Monogram offering and I can tell that you spent some good time with this one. Good work kilo!!

The P-40 was the first fighter I became aware of. I think I saw the Flying Tigers and that led me to reading about them. Still one of my favorite birds.

I really like this build. That you hand paint everything makes it even more impressive.

Yep, it was the old Monogram kit. Of course back then it wasn’t an “old” kit yet! I think you can still buy it as a Revell rebox.

I built this kit and it hung from my bedroom ceiling for years. You did a great job on this, I bet it brought many memories back
