I haven't seen a 360 V-8 in YEARS. I remember as a kid, dad would have me replace the exhaust manifold gaskets on these (which was never a fun job) as they would always blow out and I also remember the spark plugs being tough to remove all the way down to the last thread on these.
This is really superb stuff James. Could you describe the weathering processes you used to get that result on the engine?

Sweet work on the engine! Looks just about identical to the 360 in my buddy’s ‘66 F600 grain truck I used to drive to help them out.

Could you describe the weathering processes you used to get that result on the engine? thanks, I paint the color on in thin layers to get some kinda different tones and for rust chipping I just dab on acrylic paint and then remove it with a toothpick. Then some oil washes. Nothing to fancy lol a little update, painted up the grill, I made the centre part flat aluminum even though it doesn’t really show in the photos.. 😂

Missed the last couple of updates to this one. I like how you did the effects on the tires as well as what you did with that engine. And there they are .....the dreaded exhaust manifolds. Somebody at Ford engineering needed to be shot for that design as those were some of the hardest manifolds to deal with on the 360/ 390 engines. I cut my teeth working on these old Ford trucks with those powerplants.

Beautiful. A master class for me to look at on weathering. Still way out of my league, though.

I ran out of descriptive words for this build a ways back. You are capturing the look of a weathered, dirty, well worn road truck in every conceivable fashion.
