So as some of you might know… I am currently working on the Tamiya 1/350 Mogami. In addition, I also have the Tamiya 1/350 Yamato and Hasegawa 1/350 Akagi in my stash. Plus there is a chance my wife might have got me the Tamiya 1/350 I-400 for Christmas. With all that being said, I need some serious shelf real estate to properly display these magnificent ships. I decided to move all of my paint off the shelving and build a new dedicated wall mounted shelf. The supplies were pretty minimal: 0.5”x36” wood planks 1 inch screws Matte black spray paint 36 inches was too tall for my dedicated area, so I cut 1 piece in half to make the sides. After it was all together, I took it outside and sprayed it with the matte black spray paint. I was able to get 6 screws into studs. I’m pretty confident it will be able to easily hold the weight. Lastly I got everything transferred over, and was even able to get some more commonly used supplies that is usually stuffed in a drawer on there.

Love the new paint racks! You should be the next spoke person for Tamiya and Alcad… 🤣 lol thank you. I used primarily Vallejo for my first year into the hobby and kept having so many issues. I used the Vallejo Air, which is marketed as ready to go in airbrush etc… I wound up watching some YouTube channels which primarily used Tamiya paints, so I figured I would give it a shot. There was no looking back once I realized how high quality it is. Same thing with Alclad, but for metal finishes.

Ooooh, nice rack! I really like the display shelves, too. Where are you hiding the lighting for those?

I love that idea! I’ve been looking to utilize wall space around my bench. Horizontal space is at a premium these days!

Talk about results that are worth the effort! You got a definite payoff from that Keith! Did I mention that I envy all the room you have in which to build??!! WOW!!!

Impressive upgrade to the bench. It looks sweet. My mind is in continuous flux on things to do to upgrade or improve my bench and work area. Currently considering ways to redo my paint booth set up.

Man...great idea with the strip lighting! I'm going to have to see if there's any way for me to rig my shelves like this. I don't think I have a suitable lip to hide them behind.

Man, I really like your build space!!! From the Blue LED lighting to the custom shelves, very nice! Do you have a spray booth? Thank you! I do not have a spray booth. Typically when I paint, it is on the left most hobby mat. I put a large piece of cardboard over the mat and open the window just above it. Most of the spray booths I have seen do not have an explosion proof fan. Since I mainly only spray Tamiya (alcohol base) and it is flammable, I prefer to not have a chance of ignition. I only spray the Alclad out in my garage.
