Hi guys. Need some advises about tank periscopes simulating - plastic, films, CD disks... the vision slot is quite recessed, so its difficult to paint it properly. I'm planning to install a "glass" block. Thank you.

For WW2 armour paint the exterior lens shiny black and the interior shiny blue. It is dark it tanks so no colour shows on the outside lens. For modern anti reflection coated lens hit up the nearest dollar store and see if they have any of those shiny coloured self adhesive gift tags. Check a reference for the vehicle you are doing since some are red and some blue. If not anti reflective use the WW2 method.

Personally I like to use clear green for vision blocks and periscopes. The armored glass takes on that green tint like bank teller windows or thick glass coke bottle bottoms. If you're talking about filling the open spots where vision blocks or periscopes should be on many older kits, any appropriate sized strip styrene will do... absolute worst case, sand bits of sprue in to the appropriate shape and size to fit then paint accordingly... Clear sprue will work if you want to be fancy.
