Hi all. So first off I have to say for many many years looking at the figure thread and seeing figures at shows I am always awestruck by the level of detail you all achieve. I have to admit I am seriously lacking in this department. Do I have figures in the stash...you bet. Do I build them.........Nope! Not sure why, possibly a confidence thing but things have to change. I am not setting out to di what I have seen others do in competitions. If I could get a decent figure(s) and start adding to my builds more often I would be happy, but I need to improve. So when I finished the P-38 I opened the figure box and said.....Self! "Sit your hairy boney ass down and get it done airborne".....so I spent some time at the bench after pulling out a nice Alpine Miniatures US Tanker and got to work. I followed the color guides and did my usual at a slow pace. This was the outcome: Ill keep at it but I need to do more in the figure department. This at least was a start. -Bob

In talks with you I can almost hear you say what you've typed Bob. lol . I'm right there with you on me being weak with figure painting/ building. It's an art all to its own and something I've not yet ventured in to. With what you've posted up here I'd say you are already eons ahead of me for 1.) actually diving in and doing this and 2.) the skillset that you possess with just your first figure. WOW!!! That aint bad.......aint bad at all.

WOW! It came out great! I am a HUGE fan of Alpine Miniatures and it is worth every dollar to have those figures. It really makes the painting part a lot easier because of its sharper details especially the eyes! I really love how you highlighted the uniform. I only would make one small adjustment to your figure and you can do it very carefully and slow... bend down the rifle sling... it should be down naturally because of the gravity pull. Everything else looks spot on!

Handi - thank you, much appreciated
Joe - thanks brother
Andy - lol, I've been pulling the sling dow intermittently for two days. Going to have to moisten it up a bit to get the sag.

Hey, Bob. Yes, I'm late on this thread, but you are off to a great start. Looks like you are using acrylics, so my input would only be basic, but you picked a great figure to get into it. YT is a great place for tutorials and worth the time to dig for one that works best for you, as you have already done. Night Shift is one many guys go to, if you haven't seen him already. He's not hard to follow and he does a really great job teaching his techniques. www.youtube.com/@nightshiftscalemodelsSince my computer is not in my bunker, but I do have a dvd player in there, I'll burn a copy and watch it as I paint. Nothing better than being able to do a quick rewind when I need to. Don't fret the results if you get frustrated, I get miffed often, so it should be a constant learning curve for everyone. Keep posting your progress and I'll lend a hand anywhere I can if asked to do so. Ruck On! Cheers, Ski.
