1966 Chevy Nova SS

This one is the latest reissue of this kit which is much different from earlier Pro Street versions (see previous build below). The paint is Dupli-Color Pure White on the exterior with Testors Extreme Lacquer Turquoise using Dullcote to eliminate the metallic appearance. Engine is wired, plumbed with a fuel line and heater hoses. An alternator bracket has also been added. The previous version had a tubbed chassis with wide cheaters on the rear. That one is painted with Model Master Panther Pink and Plum Crazy. It is built box stock and is at least 20 years old. Two very different versions of the same kit. Thanks for looking! 😎

Such a great display of talent on this car JR. As 70STING said, the added detail in the engine bay really helps to set this build off on an already good build. It's cool to see the different styles of builds that can come from these kits from AMT. I've always liked the Pro Street version and you've made the "street" version look just as good if not better. Great work on both of these and as others have already mentioned, thanks for the comparison of the two different styles.

That's a real neat pair of models. The pink one looks like it's come straight from the 90s in those colours. Well done, I like it.

    Ahh yess!! the good ol' Pro Street days. That's actually my favorite era of hot rodding and these cars respond well to that treatment. Good to see you again Bruce!!

I agree with Lyle! 👍 Those were really good-looking cars, and in my younger days, there were lots of fast ones around here.   One of my friends bought a red, '66 Nova SS, around 1983 or '84 that had belonged to an older couple who had bought it brand new.  It still had the original decals in the trunk area, and the oddest thing of all was that it was merely a 283 V8, with a column mounted three-speed, and no console.  How rare was that car!?! 😳
