I've been finding USPS tracking to definitely be a little wonky this time of year. My last Sprue Brothers order about a week ago appeared to have a label created for it, with the post office in Liberty, MO saying they were still waiting for the package for almost a week...only to suddenly switch to "Out For Delivery-Byers, Colorado" and show up on my front porch that evening. Happened with my order from Burbank's House of Hobbies a couple of weeks ago too...exactly the same thing. Heh...sometimes I think I would be better off not being able to track my shipments. As a 28 year mailman I have a little background on this time of year. In your case nobody scanned your pkg, which is funny because we have to scan everything, until your mail carrier loaded it onto his truck that morning. Usually you'll get a scan at every facility it stops at and then an arrival scan at your post office. This time of year the pkg volume is insane. I average 75-80 on my route. For the last two weeks I've been somewhere north of 170 every day. My biggest day was 242. Don't get me wrong the postal service is back-ass-wards most of the time. We have antique trucks that are way too small. Mine is a 1992. We deliver more Amazon then Amazon. But we use some programs that were developed over 20 years ago.

It's looking great! I really need to get this kit.
The centerline tank is only used for crossing the pond. That big LGB was never really used. It weighed WAY too much for combat.

Dude this thing is looking GREAT!!! I've avoided A-10s throughout the years because no matter which one I looked at, I heard nothing but horror stories in building them......until.....THIS kit came along. nathant was telling me about this earlier in the year and had nothing BUT good to say about it. I've pondered getting one of these anyways and after seeing this thread and talking to Nathan, I may very well pull the trigger on one.

Hey it has color! Feel better soon!! I built one of these a move ago to replicate the one that flew the flag I had up on 9/11 during a mission in Afghanistan. My Daughter had a friend deployed who was a pilot that did this and returned it to me

Thanks gents
Joe I tried the Revell offering a couple years ago and it was one thing after another, relentless in its arsenal of nasties. Having wasted enough time on it with no end to the nastiness in sight I ended up tossing it less than half complete...if I wanted to grind, fill, rescribe, sharpen and scratch soft or missing details I'd try to scratch (NOT!) a model not buy a kit. As said elsewhere and by others this one, to date, is the bomb.
H a cool story, I expect you've got that in a special protected place
B thanks, it's a phenominal kit. Even I may not ruin it
Feeling quite a bit better, me, than I was two days ago. It's been a very intense course but I've found that the more intense it is the shorter the duration. If I have to have the crud I'd rather be down hard for a few days than dragging around half sick for a couple weeks. Probably the most entertaining aspect of the whole business was my wife, Nancy, a Montana farm girl who grew up with nine siblings and is usually not bothered by anything short of traumatic amputation. She'd look at me sideways and make veiled suggestions about a doctor visit which for her is the equivalent of a screaming panic attack. This helped me as it got me laughing, which got me coughing, which made me expell alot more snot than I would have otherwise. Perhaps this was contrived; she's alot smarter than I am

Just a suggestion, but you may want to repaint those Mavericks into Light Ghost Gray or Olive Drab. I don't think that there is a white AGM-65 left in the inventory aside from inert training rounds. White was phased out at the factory for those in the 80's. I think the HARM is one of the few air launched missiles left still produced in white.

Thanks gents K you're gonna love this kit. Be sure to dry fit major assemblies, unwanted steps appear in places but not many and they're easy to deal with It appears anything to do with modeling no matter what the subject will have some tedious aspects. For armor it's roadwheels and indy track links. For heavy trucks it's all the extra detail needed to make them look un-toylike and the general horrible fit. Don't know about cars as I do not do them, nor ships, but for aircraft I'd have to say it's the DECALS. I've been at this for two days now and have finally finished the aircraft so now it's time for the underwing stores This little EW device had fiffteen seperate decals, tedious to be sure but worth the effort as it brings the level of perceived detail up sharply. This means I can't whine too long or loud

Man that’s a ton of decals. It’s all looking great though, and as you say, adds nicely to the realism.

She’s really coming to life now! Looking really good, especially the ordinance and ecm pods, they are my least favorite to paint and weather. Are the Academy decals and stencils any good? I bought aftermarket decals from Speedhunter for my kit.

Looking sharp! I enjoy the decal process, but sometimes the 1000 stencils can be tedious and disruptive to the appearance of the model. I've done a couple Hasegawa F-4Js and the first one I did all the stencils - second one I left them off as I didn't like the finished look. This kit/plane looks great with the stencils as you have applied.

Thanks gents N the kit decals are actually pretty good, thinner than the old style Academy decals that seemed to be printed on scotch tape but not so thin as to be over fragile. Good registration as well Decals done at last and now it's Flory's time I like this wash very much, it's easy to use, very effective, and while cleaning the excess off you can leave a little streaking to give things the "used" look if you want. I'll be leaving the hard points and landing gear off 'till last as these things are a pain to work around during the wash phase

Yeah, it s a PITA to mark up ordnance, but that effort lifts up the final appearance several notches! Nice work!

Thanks gents One of the great things about this model is it's got a ton of suface detail, both raised and recessed. It's taking me a long time to bring it all out with the wash The raised portions are the most difficult as the Flory's comes off very easily, not an advantage when trying to accentuate all the raised rivets on the model. I may do those portions in an enamel wash if I can't get enough contrast with the Flory's.

This is another thread that I've been wanting to catch up on. This is one heckuva good build going on and you've certainly given it "the treatment" Mark. I've gotta agree with you on one aspect of aviation modeling in regard to the decals. The upside to that is when it's all said and done it's such a rewarding outcome. Decals/ markings just bring an aircraft to life. Awesome work bro.
P.S. Car modeling blues? Getting the paint job right!! lol
