I like the color you put on this. Everyone is used to the Shelby Blue scheme when a Cobra is mentioned

Which kit is this? Did you have any issues with the windshield? And yes, ‘who doesn’t like a Cobra?’ 8^D

It would be easy to build a half dozen of these due to the range of color options. I was tempted to go with red or blue, because those look great, but I went online looking at real Cobras, and saw a few with this black / black combo. I really liked the look, and the fact it is something different.
It was the Revell (Monogram) kit with a red Cobra on the box.
As I recall the windshield was a bit of a bear to wrestle with. The whole kit is actually a little tricky, well made but like the real car everything is a tight fit and requires some finagling and swearing to get things just right. One of those kits where having a third or forth hand would be welcome.

Ah. Very cool. Who doesn't love a Cobra indeed. I've never built one, but keep meaning to. Great work on this one. I really like your color choices as well.

Theres nothing nice about a cobra. It's stripped down to the essential-a big engine, a small car, and four wide tires to keep the whole thing on the pavement. Its loud, smells like gasoline, and shakes, shudders and bucks. It makes your arms tired and your feet hot. You nearly crash about once ever 10 minutes. Its soo darn wonderful that you cant believe it!! And this particular street version looks like it lives up to that statement. Nicely done.

The carpet really looks great! Now you have made me very curious about the technique that you used. The Cobra looks really good by the way!

The carpet really looks great! Now you have made me very curious about the technique that you used. The Cobra looks really good by the way! It is pretty simple, just put a nice wet paint job where you want carpet, then sprinkle the embossing powder on thick and it shake around to get good coverage. Let it sit for a bit then dump it out. Touch up with paint and reapply the powder as needed until you get good coverage. Once you are happy with the coverage, put on a top color coat. The initial paint can be whatever is handy, since it is just to get the powder to stick. In this case I used flat black across the board mostly because I had a ton of it, but whatever you have lots of or is cheap works. I've also used Future to bind the powder, cheap Acrylic craft store paint could be another good choice. Of course the color of the top coat may influence what goes under, like if you are doing white carpet, then using red to make the powder stick is probably not a great idea. Embossing powder is just a fine plastic powder sold at most craft stores. It comes in lots of colors, but I get the clear type just so for less chance of it impacting the final color. If you dump the excess into a baggie, then you can get lots of reuse of it. embossing powder

Just now catching up with this thread and for a guy that doesn't do a whole lot of auto modeling, you sure did a bang-up job on this one. I used to use flocking and embossing powder for carpet but in more recent times, I've strayed from that..... especially flocking. It didn't seem to matter how well I adhered the flocking to the floor, it would always come up if I had to turn the model over to install the body over the chassis and interior tub. I'll have to admit though......your outcome with the powder is very nice and you've done a great job with the whole car Aaron. Great lookin' Cobra man.
