This is another one from many many years ago that has sat on a shelf waiting for paint. This is the AFV kit of the M49A2C deuce and a half fuel truck. I need to make some minor modifications to Canadianize it. This will be done as the UN marked and painted truck I drove in Egypt in 1978. About 90% built and really just in need of paint. To make it Canadian I had to alter the roof from canvas to steel and add the camo net/beer case storage net box.

SWEEETTTT!!!! Looks like the deadly 'Shelf Queen' bug has bitten you BIG time... Well I am off work now until the new year, the weather is crappy, I have no chores lined up, all my newer kits are packed away behind Christmas decoration boxes, the group builds don't start until Jan 1 and I need something to kill time. Sooooo...

Lots of detail there.

It is a decent but not a great kit. Loads of detail but some of the fit was a bit wonky and the plastic is a bit off. Think it was the hassle of building it and the brittle plastic that made me put it aside for "a while" in the first place. The stack and mirror supports didn't fair well in storage. The supports were a bit heavy for the scale anyway though so replacement is due. I built the AFV Guntruck a couple of years ago. Although fundamentally the same base kit the plastic and fit were far better on it.

OK Now it is the Canadian version. Of course the racks were not really made of 2 1/2 inch steel but I wanted it sturdy when I form the canvas cover.

Ah very cool project. Who doesn’t love a deuce and a half? Looking forward to seeing the Canadian-ized version.

Well i don’t know about military fueling rigs but that pump system looks just like the pump on the truck that fills our fuel rig for the Little 500. A sprint car race in which we race them for 500 laps with live pit stops and refueling. Excellent work on that

The 5 ton fuel "pod" truck I drove in Germany had pretty much the same setup. The only difference is that since the pod is swappable it uses it's own motor instead of a power take off like the M49. The rest of the system is almost identical. Not a great picture but you can sort of see the pump engine over my left shoulder and the filter canister over my right.

Man, that rocks! I wish someone made these trucks in my scale so I could have them too. I'll just keep living vicariously through you.

That is very cool Another one of my "someday" projects is t find a kit of the 5 ton and scratch build the tank pods and pump from my truck. The hard part will be doing it mostly from 46 year old memories since that pic is the only one I know of for the system.

Interior done. No clutter this time around since this truck was a base queen with only day trips which means no gear.

Nice looking workmanlike interior there. Much like our shop trucks at work that never go far

White sprayed in in a nice uneven coat with overspray all over the undercarriage that wasn't actually painted. These things got paint jobs that make MACCO look 5 star

You’re making rapid progress on this one. Yep. It is pretty much just paint which is pretty quick. Home printed UN and Canada flag decals on and weathering started. It will not be a nice pristine (and very unbelievable) white.
