Hey gang. Just wanted everyone to know that I've been out mostly for the last couple of weeks or so. I've got a 97-year-old grandma who's not doing so well and took a trip back home to see her. On the way north to see her the transmission in my truck failed so it stayed there while my son and I finished the trip with a rental car. Still don't have the truck home and am actually in the process of purchasing a newer Silverado. It's been a tumultuous last couple of weeks that has taken a lot of my focus away from the forum, but it looks like the murkiness is clearing somewhat so I should be back around a little more from here forward. I know that some of you will be of the mindset that I didn't have to explain all of this, but I merely wanted to let you all know what was up with me not being as present in the community as I normally am. We'll see you guys on the forum.

Its good that you were able to make it to Grandma's house. I'm sure she enjoyed that a lot. Buying a truck right now is crazy, but prices have dropped. I have been trying to buy a Tacoma for what seems like forever, but here in the bay area the Tacoma is king of trendy so finding a good price is difficult.
Good luck to you!

Hey Joe. Life happens, so there is no need to explain yourself. But it is good to hear that things are looking better.

I am glad you got to see your grandmother! Sorry about the truck! You should have enough styrene to melt everything into a 1:1 scale of a new truck!

Oh man, feel for you. I’ve known the exact moment when the vehicle says I ain’t shifting gears no more! I am glad though that you did have an opportunity to see your grandmother. Really cool about the new truck too.

Really cool about the new truck too. My 2014 FRS had a recall for for bad throw out bearing lubrication. This was a two year old car but the recall came too late to help me. I have never had to replace a clutch (on a street car) in the 12 or so I have owned. This one went suddenly and in a very dramatic manner.

Thank you for the "good word" fellas. The truck is now back at home as of a couple of days ago and I'll start work on replacing the transmission in the upcoming week. I've been test driving the newer truck for the last couple of days and went to the dealer last night to wrap up the deal and sign the paperwork. It didn't go as I'd planned at this point but we're checking with another lender this morning. My wife and I have perfect credit and they came back with some pretty wonky interest rates which threw the payment up there alot higher than what we wanted so we decided to back up and regroup. We'll see what happens in the coming day or so. tcoat : YIKES!!! That looks BAD!!

I am glad that things worked out in the end for you. Always remember family comes first; I shall keep your grandmother and you in my prayers. Enjoy the new truck once you get it.

It was a few months later in April that my grandmother did indeed pass and honestly, it was a good thing for her as she was asking for grandpa alot in her final days. She's with him now so it's all good now. Ironically, she passed within two days apart on the calendar on April 17th thirty seven years later. Grandpa passed on April 15th in 1987. The truck, well....I replaced the transmission in the truck pretty soon after getting it back home and it's doing good now.
