  Almost fed the carpet monster...popped a tiny but vital little piece and spent 20min praying the beast would cough it up....it did. Hope this isn't a regular prayer session as my knees are killing me LOL.

   Well a few more hours of work and the torsion bars are installed. They do not provide any movement however if one cuts off the square peg that fits opposite I believe they can be posed...I chose not to do that.
     I'm also trying to minimize paint waste by fixing in situ items that will be painted the same color. As you can see it really would be pointless to paint the inside of the chassis, then paint and install the fuel cell and air tanks then install them over the torsion tubes, I hope that with some clever weathering and my ninja paint skills I haven't created a monster.
    So far this is an amazing kit, fit is excellent, detail is great..which is good for an OOB builder like me. I'm enjoying the build so far.

It is starting to look huge…. Chassis is about 4 inches wide and more than 12 inches long?

  It is pretty big, if I remember I'll line it up with the cut mat to get a better idea of length and width. Hieght will come later when tracks and wheels are installed.

   A few days of putting indy links together, 55/side, pretty easy, neccessary, and BORING. The MG 42 was fun, barrel jacket was a 2pc affair, muzzle flash suppresor, rear sight, and charging handle provided much entertainment again not hard but kinda fiddily...worth the effort IMO. The gas mask canister was an 8 pc exercise in frustration. I don't think the seams are going to show but damn coulda been a better way.
    The overall length of chassis is just under 13in....forgot to get a width.

   I kinda marathoned the first set...maybe 3hrs. I cleaned up the sprue attatchment leftovers which is the most time consuming part. The " pads" are attatched to the sprue that even with the fancy nippers I bought from Andy made it tought to seperate, once clear a few more " sugical snips and all was good. I only placed glue on the external " wings" then pinched with tweezers for a second. The second run I worked over the course of a couple days.I probably have 5hrs MAX in the tracks before paint of course.

The tracks really look great and crisp! Too bad about 8 pieces canister… it should have been done better.

   Lot o' dots....left is after sanding right is what I'm working now. Also several very shallow knock out pin marks here and there that take putty well and sand smooth. There goes my hopes of not priming. Oh well, I want this to be one of the best I've ever built so the effort is a must.

Agreed! Hope you have like 5-10 rattle cans of primer because you will need plenty. LOL

  So my sidewalls turned out ok, ready for primer to see if I really did do a good job.
   I did hit a pitfall that I had to overcome. In my haste to not waste paint if I don't have to, I as seen glued the suspention arms and idler aim in situ....fun fact..DON'T DO THAT, well the idler anyway. It seems that it interferes with the placement of the lower side wall. So razor saw in hand I fixed my problem. A little ptty and a blind eye no one will know the difference. BTW left side fits fine

I reckon with large panels like this they need to be really clever where they put the release pins. That running gear is soooo detailed! I love it.

Hey Perry. I'm just tuning in and I am totally taken aback by what you have done so far. What a cool kit. I am so looking forward to following along on your further adventures with this halftrack. Really solid progress so far.

Wow Pezza, this is looking great. Have just read the thread and will be following from here on. Incidentally, if you want fun assembling tracks, try doing them in 1/48 resin with 2 eensy tiny track pins per link.
