AMT 1968 Pontiac GTO

This is the new tool AMT GTO. New tool but based off the old promo kits. It is a craftsmen plus kit as well, so limited details and no engine. I was building this one as a Christmas gift for my father-in-law. He owned one of these in the past and said it was the only car he has regretted getting rid of. 

The kit itself was very nice. And it is exceptionally nicely molded. The body and chrome pieces are exceptionally clean. Black on black was the color scheme and Rally 2 wheels (rally 1s are offered if anyone wants to build this kit or needs those wheels). Chassis details are molded in and I just detail painted them with my hairy stick. After that started out smoothly I decided to add an engine and some engine bay details. Great job on the paint. Black is not an easy color to do. I'm sure your father-in-law will love it.

Thank you! I had them both out taking photos and noticed the size difference so I did an impromptu photo shoot.

Great job on touching this curbside kit up with the addition of an engine Kyle. I would've done the same thing as I'm not much of a curbside build kind of guy (and that goes for aircraft too....lol). What a great finish up and I'm very certain that your father-in-law is going to love the results of your work. Awesome stuff bud.

Thanks Joe!  If it were just for me, I'd probably left it curbside, as they don't bother me too much. Sure, I prefer an engine, but have built plenty without. But I know my father-in-law will like it more with the engine in there! So it was worth it once I realized I'd have the time I needed.
