I was able to get my primer on. Decided to go with black versus my normal gray to cut down on the need to pre-shade: Completed the engine. Painted it and placed wiring based on a reference photo I found:
This image shows where I had to cut the engine to get the cowl to fit:

Apparently, I missed wires going to the spark plugs..... I will add those as well. Maybe in a dull yellow.

Always like those simple look of Zeros! Painting those markings sure is far better than using decals especially in your case.

Thank you all - kyledehart5 deafpanzer thug626I got the gloss varnish on 2 days ago in preparation of decals. Tonight I got all the decals on:    It’s bitter sweet completing this step, as I have finally finished using all the decals from the giant decal sheet that was supplied for all 3 kits. Tomorrow I will apply another gloss varnish to reduce silvering and as a layer of protection before oil washes. |

The miss-fit on the cowling is due to the slightly off position of the part that fits under it with the chin scoop. Hasegawa made that part separate to accommodate several variations of the chin scoop from the A6M1 to the A6M3 Type 22. If everything is correct it fits fine, but if it's off trouble comes. I have gotten around this fit problem by installing this part while the wing upper skins are glued but not cured so I can get the upper wing exactly fit. It might be good to test fit the cowl while all this is happening to make sure all is good. It is the one difficulty I have had when building the A6M1, A6M2b, and the A6M3 Type 32.
