Not your typical “model”

I made this replica sword known as Oathbringer from a book series by author Brandon Sanderson. The series is called The Stormlight Archive.



The base that the sword is resting on has a micro MP3 player as well as a speaker which plays a 1 minute section from the audio book.



To create the sword; I printed out an artist rendering of the sword and glued it to 7 sheets of styrene. From there, I cut away plastic until I had the rough shape, and followed up by sanding.

What a cool project! I would never think to do something like this. What chrome-y paint did you use on the blade?

The chrome is Alclad chrome applied over Alclad gloss black primer. I actually had to do it 3 times because the blade kept breaking lol. It’s very fragile.
