A little further. And I managed to screw a couple things up in the process... LOL, oh well. I somehow split the port wing at the seam and introduced a nice fingerprint on the starboard side fuselage under the windscreen. They aren't super noticeable, but... you know.
Pin wash. Done. Also painted up most of the small parts with the extra colors they needed. No pics of that though. You'll see them as they start to appear on the aircraft.

Any issues you experienced you sure can't tell from here. Your pin wash brings out the panel line detail wonderfully

Any issues you experienced you sure can't tell from here. Your pin wash brings out the panel line detail wonderfully LOL, yeah, I have to actually take a picture of it for you to see it. But thanks! I appreciate the encouragement. The fingerprint - I was able to get rid of it for the most part with some very light sanding and another clear coat. I sprayed the whole thing with semi-matte. The wing, however... I'm just going to live with its glaring imperfection now. I'm not filling, sanding and repainting for this one.

The only thing extra that I attached is the rear wheel. I took the pitot tube off, so I guess I'm still even. A little chipping - more than I usually have done, and some exhaust stains, a little grunge here and there. I still need to muck up some of the markings a little. Even my wife told me the Tatzelwurm looks too bright and shiny. LOL Canopy is pretty much done, but isn't attached yet. Won't be long before the gear is on. I think I only have about 10 more parts to attach. I still have a fairly large punch list though. But we're getting there.
Also got a nice package in the mail yesterday from the Czech Republic. I now have seatbelts for a whole Schwarm of Luftwaffe fighters. Sorry Tobi, but this one is getting one extra AM to put me even further from your OOB purity standard.

Man that's lookin' good Dave!! Those chipping effects around the cowlings and high usage areas looks perfect. You're puttin' on a great show bud.

Should be done with this over the weekend. There are still a couple things to add. We'll also see if I have the skill and patience to build up the HGW belts. It was trying for me to do the 1:32 ones, so wish me luck...
Here's a little tease. Canopy is still not fixed in place. That, the ladder, an antenna and hopefully the belts are all that remain for me on this one. I'm going to probably go straight into the Eduard A-3 with a fairly similar paint scheme, so we should get a pretty good idea in the differences between the 2 kits. I'm also kinda stoked that this only took me 1.5 months. It's usually around double to triple that.

Now THAT'S the way it's done right there Dave. I've got some seat belts in the stash for my Ta-152 and I'm a little concerned about the buildup of those as well. As far as the differences between the Eduard and Tamiya A variants.....there's a LOT!! You'll be able to get through it in good fashion as I know you've got lots of patience after watching you build your in-depth armor subjects up. Very much looking forward to the finishing shots of this beauty.

Okay, so I am going to call it done. I did not do the belts. It would have been much easier if the cockpit was still out of the fuselage, so I just said screw it. This was supposed to be more about practicing paint than anything else. I was able to stay mostly OOB. But of course that just isn't very easy. OOB except for: 1. Brass tube for the cannons and pitot 2. Easy line for the antenna 3. EagleCal decal sheet for the markings and stencils 4. An extra canopy from the many included in my Eduard stash. The front frame on the Tamiya piece is pretty much non existent on my kit.
Here are the parting shots. I'll be happy to answer any questions and I'm open to ANY feedback. Thanks for following along, or stopping in here and there. On to the Eduard kit (A-3).

You said you didn't have much experience in this scale, it sure didn't matter. I really like the lightly weathered, lovely paint finish on this. Superb work sir!

For some reason I thought I commented on this beautiful finish up yesterday Dave but I guess not. I did put it into the Butcher Bird GB finished builds thread though. Sorry to hear about the seat belts but this did indeed cross the finish line fantastically well. I like the subtle weathering along with the paint work. Eduard sliding canopy sections are almost a must on Tammy kits as they add so much in regard to detail and "correctness". It's most certainly been a pleasure to have you in on the Butcher Bird GB buddy. Since this one was a practice build for paint, do we see another 190 build in the near future?

Thanks guys, much appreciated! Excellent, Dave. Not a flaw to be seen! +1 on the photos too. LOL, helps when I am the one doing the photography. I can hide what needs to be hidden! No biggie on the belts. Obviously I didn't feel strongly enough about it to get them in there. And yeah, the Eduard A-3 is now on the bench. BTW - where is the finished build thread?

Your 190 turned out remarkable Dave. As far as the "practicing" painting aspect goes, I do believe you have nailed it. I really like the lightly weathered approach you took. It looks excellent. Bravo on crossing the finish line.
