Hello everyone!
As my subject line indicates, I'm new to his group, but in no means new to the hobby.
I've been a builder since my pre-teen days, some 50+ years ago.
I've dabbled in virtually every model building genre there is, from military and aviation subjects, to ships, and finally settling on my true passion, automobiles.
My interests in cars only goes to a certain point, and my interests within the genre are quite narrow.
I've never had an interest in racing, although I have built a few NASCAR kits in my youth.
I'm not much into hot rods or customs, and I have absolutely zero interest in foreign exotics, sports cars, etc.
My passion is American cars, mainly from the 50s and 60s, and mostly built in a factory stock type of configuration.
You know, the kinds of cars that I saw on a daily basis as a kid growing up in the upper midwest.
I can already hear the groans!
"Oh great! Another guy that builds nothing but "box stock".
Not by a long shot!
While I've done my fair share of building basically out of the box in the past, currently my focus is on taking a vintage kit and kit bashing, modifying and scratch building my way to a finished model that rivals, and goes beyond a modern kit's detail.
I love the challenge of taking an old annual kit from the 50s or 60s, with a rudimentary chassis, plastic blob engine, and a basic 3-6 piece interior, and elevating it to a point beyond the detail level of the latest kits.
I also love the discipline required to keep that project convincingly factory stock.
I like the research required and the work involved to keep the model as close to the 1:1 as possible, while still putting a little bit of my own personality into it.
Thank you to Joe Shaw who was persistent in his attempts to get me to join the group.
Sometimes I need a little harsh nudging to get me moving in the right directions.
I'm confident that There will be many in this forum that I know from other boards or groups, and I'm sure that there will be many of you that know me.
But I always look forward to new acquaintances.
Thank you for having me!
Here's just a little taste of what I enjoy doing.
Steve

Welcome!! You won’t hear any groans about building styles here, it’s a wonderful place to be. Having said that, I love your description of your builds. Sounds awesome. And that sure is a beauty of a build that you’ve shared here. Looking forward to seeing many more!!

Welcome to MSC Steve! I think you'll find plenty of folks here who will appreciate your work. There is nothing wrong with box stock builds, no matter what the subject area.

I don't care what you build or how you choose to do it. When they look that good you deserve all the Koodos out there. Welcome aboard!

Welcome to the show, Steve! Lovely build you have their, and I would be surprised if anyone had any hard feelings towards your build preferences. Great bunch of people here at MSC. Cant wait to see what else you build.
