Finally can get back to this one. Barely started it late 2022. Got sidelined, but now she's back. Stay tuned for updates.

Okay, finally time for an update. Man, this kit has so much small detail paint work it is taking forever to get done. I am progressing and I have finished most of the decalling and detail painting. I've been adding carbon fiber decalling and this stuff is a huge PAIN to work with, but it looks fantastic. I have the wing done as well as the intake. The seat is taking a hot minute as this stuff does NOT like curves.
I am now beginning to do some scratch work, mainly plumbing and wiring that the kit does not have. This will take some time, but it will be worth it in the end. I have wired the engine, but I need to build fuel rails and plumbing for that. I have to clear the body yet and then it should move pretty fast. This really is a great kit, easily one of the best I've worked on.

Neat project Brandon. I always wondered, is there also a Schmutzig-Mercedes?

I know this is an older Tamiya mold...how does it stack up to their more recent stuff?

Nice kit! Man, you are flying right along on that one. It’s taking me over a week just to do a trunk. Looks great

It truly is a fantastic kit. I absolutely love it. I’d absolutely build another. I didn’t really detail mine like what’s going on here but it was just an absolute joy to build. I can’t wait to see more.

Making more progress. Finally finished working on that seat. Good grief that carbon fiber is no fun to put on. Looks the part now, so I'm happy. Finished adding the wiring to the ECM/telemetry box and did not add the seat back in this spot as not one of the pics of this car shows it with that in there. I also added the small lables next to each switch on the left of the IP as the real car has them and I felt it was needed to dress the otherwise boring IP. Put a dab of clear resin over the speedo as well, but you can't see that here. Next update will be adding the plumbing. This will likely go quickly now.

Beautiful work so far. Also I love that stand you have for the alligator clips. I'm gonna have to make myself one or two of those.

Man, that's some beautiful work, Brandon! Those were some really great looking race cars, and you're sure doing them justice. Here's a pic, kept in my "Road and Track" folder and a favorite whenever it comes up in the slide-show! It is a bit dark and small, but I like how the cars look parked together.

This will be the final update before work is complete and finished pics are posted. At this point I have to wet sand and polish the body, clean up the tires and decal them, minor final assembly. Most of the heavy lifting is now done. I have to make myself slow down so I don't goof something up at the end.
