This is an abandoned project from a GB on a different forum but it is well under 50% complete so this seems to be as good a spot to resurrect it as anyplace. Many of the introduction posts are going to be cut and paste from the other place because I am lazy. Not sure where they found them but my local Dollar Tree store had several dozen of this old man. No others just this one. It cost me $1.50 Cdn (Nothing in the dollar store only costs a dollar anymore). In hindsight I should have grabbed a bunch but figured I would just need one for a 1/32 aircraft diorama some day. It is obviously a new(ish) boxing. Looking it up on Scalemates says 2007. Must have made piles and sold only a few for it to show up at Dollar Tree! Both sprues packaged well. Just a little room for some scratch build details. Nothing crazy as it will be done as a newish stock car in the early 4'40s. Would never have figured things out without the detailed instructions And here is why I don't trust Amazon to not rip you off! Yes they wanted $78 for this kit. Have to wonder if they ever sold one. "Easy to assemble" - Check "Authentic scale model" - Well yes it is sort of Ford shaped if you squint just right "Realistic rubber tires" - Really? Where? "Detailed chassis" - UMMMM....Well... Ahhhhh... "Realistic hubcaps" - They are really grasping at straws here. OK so main parts are pretty much cleaned up and more or less fit together. I am hopeful some glue and gentle persuasion will help but I do see some putty in my future Next up is to remove the B-17 flaps they put on as sun visors and do something about that spectacular detail on the inside of the scale 1 inch think doors. Well now we have some door cards and since in for a penny in for a pound I decided too open up the drivers door. The carpeting in these was either a heavy textured vinyl or a very low pile carpet depending on the options. I went with the low pile carpet. The brown sections were textured using a heavy coat of Tamiya Extra Thin cement and the stippled with an old stiff brush. They are brown so they will be a different tone when I spray the interior beige. And here we have the "Realistic" rubber tires and hubcaps as proudly proclaimed on the Amazon site! Well worth their price of $78.00. These have to be painted black, white, body colour and two chromes. Not real sure how I will pull that off yet. And this is where it ended back then. After 4 attempts to do the wheels the whole works went back into the box where it languished on the Shelf of Doom for the last 3 years. I have since then purchased one of those circle templates that should rectify this issue. New material to follow soon.

Nice start. I like those door cards. $78 you say? Man I hope they still have some. For that price, I'm all over it!

Well that was a great start you made back then. Really looking forward to seeing where you take this one.

I have a Palmer 1/32 1940 Ford Custom Convertible. It is a 1965 reissue of a Pyro kit issued first in 1963, and according to Scalemates the Lindberg kits are from the same molds. I'll be watching to see how much trouble you may be in!

I'll be watching to see how much trouble you may be in! It actually isn't horrible when you consider how old it is. The dash should come up pretty nice with some creative painting. The seats and my homemade door panels got painted last night and I have made an attempt at simulating the blotchy coloured tan leather of the original top trim level with an uneven wash but didn't look this morning to see how it turned out. The front of the body seems to fit just fine but the rear deck looks like it will put up a fight. The seem is in a very awkward place that will be hard to fill and sand if needed (LOL "IF"). Strong probability I am going to have to lose the chrome trim molded to the side and have to replace that with some strip. Painting the wheels should no longer be an issue now that I have the proper piece of equipment but I have not been brave enough to give that a go just yet. Over all it looks to be a bit of a beast to build but should result in a nice little convert when done. I would get more in the series if they ever popped up.

I've been collecting 1/32 and 1/48 cars and trucks for a long time, mostly in the early years of eBay. I think a lot of them were made when slot cars were a thing. Here's what I've found. In 1/32 unless noted as 1/48. Not much to be found in 1/48. 1906 Renault PYRO 1930 Model A Pickup Life Like 1930 Packard Boat-tail Speedster PYRO 1930 Packard Victoria 1/48 Revell 1931 Cad Towne Car PYRO 1931 Cadillac Sport Phaeton PYRO 1931 Cadillac Sport Phaeton 1/48 Renwal 1932 Chevrolet Cabriolet Palmer 1932 Ford Model B Roadster PYRO 1932 Lincoln Sport Convertible Life Like 1932 Model B Ford 1/48 Palmer 1932 Packard Victoria Matchbox 1934 Duesenberg SJ 1/48 Renwal 1934 Ford 3 window Coupe Lindberg 1934 Plymouth Convertible PYRO 1935 Auburn Speedster PYRO 1936 Cord Minicraft 1937 Chevy Convertible Life Like 1937 Chevy Coupe PYRO 1940 Ford Custom Convertible Palmer 1940 Ford Dlx Tudor Sedan Palmer 1942 Ford 1/48 Tamiya 1949 Ford Tudor LifeLike, Lindberg, Palmer 1950 Volkswagen ARII 1952 Chevy PYRO 1955 Chevrolet 6400 1/48 Revell, Atlantis 1956 Ford F-100 1/48 Revell 1957 Chevy PYRO 1957 Eldorado Brougham Revell Here's the only one that is finished, so far, a Pyro 1/32 Cadillac Sport Phaeton. I recall spending a lot of time thinning down wheel spokes.

What a very cool collection you of small scale kits. And that’s a lovely build.

I have this kit in my stash... want to build it up someday paired with a P-40 for a December 7th Haleiwa Field vignette... I'll be watching this one.

Underside painted black. That is all it is getting as a curbside. I was after blotchy leather but blotched too much. Going to try another wash to see if I can even it out a bit before repainting.

LOL well the picture doesn't really show it but a quick wash did the trick in real life. Now looks like leather. There is a big difference I promise.

Originally was going to red but have done several red cars since then so going to go black. Have to repaint dash. Since only 1/32 the dash details are tiny and want to do before assembling body.

I hear what you're saying as I've posted progress photos of my builds before that I thought look hideous in pictures but were perfect in person. Looking forward to more of this great build Tony.

That interior is looking good. Colour is unique… really nice. A couple of shades of tan were actually the ONLY colours for the original interior. Was sort of the neutral go with anything colour of the day. All these restored cars with the fancy coloured interiors are wrong. www.fordbarn.com/forum/showthread.php?t=183443

As I suspected there is little hope of that molded on trim surviving the filling and smoothing of that atrocious seam.

Just a beautiful fit and finish on this old girl. lol. Can’t wait to see it after you work your magic on it. Well at this point it has no side trim and way more bondo than needed to fix the issue so it is pretty much like many real cars I owned!

Wait for it......wait for it.....the magic is gonna happen pretty soon folks. Will have to wait a bit because I always let the putty dry for at least two days before sanding.

Looks like a challenge but one you will get into great shape in short order. It's funny because I probably build dozens of these things for slot car bodies back when I was a kid and don't ever recall complaining about fit. Mind you many of them flew apart the first time I took a curve to fast but that is beside the point.

That DOES look good Tony. You're really bringing out the best in that 1/32 scale build bud. Looking good and looking forward to seeing more on this.
