This original MPC kit was finished just prior to Round-2's announcement that they would be re-issuing both the convertible and hard top versions of this kit.
Of course, my version has had a bunch of parts swapping and modifications, including a highly modified/scratch built interior designed for a hard top.
As you know, most of these old kits had convertible interior tubs, featuring the convertible top wells in the rear seating area, so I completely re-worked the interior by either modifying parts from the Revell 1968 Dodge Charger kit, or scratch building them.
The bucket seats were from the original MPC kit, with the seat belts removed, and the rear seat was widened.
The floor pan, rear package shelf, dash and dash pad are modified from the charger.
The door panels, "buddy seat", steering wheel, steering column, and under dash 8-track tape player were almost, or entirely scratch made.
A portion of the interior parts were used as masters to be recreated in resin by Ed Fluck Jr. of "Drag City Casting", and was offered to the public.
The rest of the model benefited greatly from parts taken from the Revell '68 Charger, as well as various other kits.
Hope you enjoy it.

I was actually looking forward to seeing this one because I've got pictures on my phone of it Steve. Such a great example of excellent modeling as well as fantastic photography. This one and the W-30 definitely get my vote brother.

Thank you!
I'll post up some shots of the '68 442 this afternoon if you'd like.

Wow - one of the best car builds I've seen. Fantastic. Not to mention I love the car. The engine bay is so busy, extremely well done. And do you do a wash between the brightwork and body? Like the chrome lips around the fenders? So much depth there. Just wow....

No, no wash on the body.
I usually just do some extra scribing around the trim for a little more depth.

Now that's something that I haven't tried as of yet but you can bet your bottom dollar that I'll be doing just that on my next automotive build. Thank you for the tip Steve.

I do the texture by simply spraying a light mist coat from a couple of feet away.
In the case of a black vinyl top, I use Duplicolor black sandable primer.

Thanks for the info! Decanted and airbrushed or straight from the rattle can?
