I would say your hairspray technique works well!
I find hairspray easier to use than the branded chipping products on the market. I get a much more consistent and scale result from hairspray.

That came out stunning. No wonder someone wanted to buy it. Very well done!

Nice work on the old Tamiya Tiger. The old cat still builds up nicely enough with some effort.

Thanks all for the great comments. I bought two of these with a bunch of other kits for a couple of bucks a few years ago and they just settled to the back of the stash. I may do the remaining one as a rusting hulk years after the war abandoned in a field somewhere in Europe.🤔

Looks perfect! I will never forget the look on my wife's face the first time I said "Hey you have any hairspray around?"

👍That Tiger looks great, Ernie! Your hairspray weathering looks terrific to me. I think I'm about to start the same kit; it's been leering at me from the stash for several years now and I think it's about time to handle it. I'll surely be looking back at this one for inspiration and help! 😃

For your first shot at hairspray weathering you did a righteous job. Looks excellent.

Excellent winter whitewash! It may be an ancient kit but your paintwork is great.
