Well, "recent" is a relative term when referring to my scale modeling progress. I may well be the world's slowest model builder, or at least in the top ten! At any rate, I do actually finish one from time to time and I would like to show some of them here. Many of these will be familiar to many members but they will be new for many others.
I usually take my aircraft models to either the Cameron Airport or the one in a neighboring smalltown, Rockdale. The Cameron Airport is only five minutes from my home and I have easy access to it. I get better photos in the natural light and of course, the airport surroundings help too. One thing I always appreciate is the ever-changing skies; I think it add a lot as well. I sometimes call my models "four-footers" and hope they look good from that distance!
Enough of this blather, and on to the photos!
Tamiya M41 Walker Bulldog, in ARVN service:
Monogram Convair F-102 Delta Dagger, Idaho National Guard:
Revell, Republic F-84E Thunderjet, Korean War "bomb truck", at sunrise:
AMT F7F-2N Tigercat, NATC Maryland:
Revell Grumman A-6E TRAM Intruder, "Libya Raider":
Hobbyboss Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-17F, NVAF:
In the last week, I've experienced an unusual occurrence for me; I was able to call three different models finished. One completion added the first Bf-109 I've built since grade school, and that was the Hobbycraft Bf-109E-7 Tropical. It was begun almost three years ago and worked sporadically until just recently. Another build was only 6 months old and that was only because I kept it strictly OOB; the old Monogram Mosquito. An even older project was the ancient ex-Hawk Testors Supermarine S6B racer. It started and mostly finished around 1993 or '94, and then sat "unfinished" on the bottom shelf of a display cabinet until a day or two ago. I'm afraid it looks pretty rough around the edges, and in the middle too! Oh well, my work from then leaves a lot to be desired, and still does, I reckon. None of these have had any "proper" pics made, only a few tabletop photos to see how they looked. And just to prove that I do actually finish some models these days, I'll post some sneak preview pics of those too:
That's about enough of that! I hope you enjoy the pics, and soon I expect to have some better photos of these three too! Thanks for your interest, my friends!
