Coastal Kits backgrounds

Grass, bushes, cut down palm tree, and stones added. 




Everything needs to dry for a day or two and it should be good to paint!

I looked into buying that desert background set but that would cost over $80 with the shipping costs to Texas.  😳 Hmmm...guess I'll move on to so-called (in Boris and Natasha voice) Plan B.    Wait.  I don't have a Plan B...yet! 😄

The main part to buy would be the background. A desert themed base would be relatively easy to make. But yeah, shipping to you must be outrageous!

Yeah, shipping for just the desert background is $16.43.   I think I can find a suitable photo and have it printed to size for the cost of the background ($30.75) plus that shipping cost.   That's worth a try anyway.

Progress so far on the base: 




I need to paint all the stones, tree trunks, and apply a few oil washes. Then it should be done.

The groundwork makes a huuuge difference. From your first pictures it was instantly clear to me I would only buy backgrounds from them.
Still, I find them too small, sadly. They're made for a single model. I would need diorama suitable backgrounds.

I've been missing these updates to this whole diorama piece that you're working on here Keith. Excellent ground work and will definitely look "the part". Very cool!!

I agree. It is great for showing off 1 build at a time, but just barely. I wish they had backgrounds that were at least 2-3 times larger. 

Once I finish the ground, I think it will be pretty awesome.

I applied a brown wash. What do you all think? Any more shades of brown warranted for the dirt, or does it look good/real?

decided to add a bit of dry pigments on the raised areas. Left the tire tracks darker

I think I'd stop right there Keith as you've gone about as far as one could go with the base. Excellent work man.

I have a few props to build, but I agree. Other than painting the cut down trees and stones, it’s pretty much done.
