Going To Two Shows This Year

Hey all. So I'm going to two shows this year (for now). First up is Model Fiesta on Feb 10th in New Braunfels, TX put on by Alamo Squadron IPMS. I've been to this one before but it's been a while.

The second is the home show here in Houston. Model Mania 2024 in Stafford, TX (a city right outside of Houston). I'll be a judge and very involved in the show. I've been to this show since I got back into the hobby some 15 yrs ago.

So anyone going to these shows? Let me know so we can meet up.

   Would love to come down but Texas is a littke out of my range. I am strongly considering the Nats in Madison, waffling on putting off dialysis for a couple weeks to go or set treatments up as a traveler. Sorry off topic.

I'd love to go to Nationals again but it's kinda far and too expensive for me.

I;d love to go, but it's too far for me. I am also trying to save up to go to Madison; I really want to attend that one!

I had a chance to talk to Mike at Model Fiesta, and from what I gather, the Houston show is one not to be missed. I say that knowing it's my anniversary weekend and I will most likely not be there. It's killin' me...

So I attended Model Fiesta 42 last Saturday. Cool show, but a little on the small side. That’s not the organizers fault though. It was still fun and met up with some friends and talked to a lot more. I entered four models but didn’t place. That’s ok with me, that’s really not why I go. A shoutout to Lionheart Hobbies for having the sanding sticks that I love using. Next show will be in May for Modelmania 2024, my home show.

It was a little low on entries due to space restrictions, and I think the "one entry per class" rule may have been overkill: there was still room on the tables. Not mine to criticize though, had they not made that rule I can easily imagine serious problems. And I really shouldn't complain without offering a solution which might be be to limit the total number of models each entrant can enter. Since I build so much of the same stuff, I brought one model, and I was VERY surprised to get a first. Since the theme was "Under the Union Jack" (anything in British service) I dusted up a Challenger 1 I did last year, mounted it to a black base and entered it.

I was quite happy. That and I scored about $200 worth of cool kits in the raffle, from $40 worth of tickets made Russa happy camper.

I'm planning on going to two shows too. Names of both escape me right now, but one is next month in Fort Wayne, and the other is near Indianapolis.

Indy show is Roscoe Turner IPMS show. I am really looking forward to meet you and others. Plenty of members here who live in Indiana and surrounding states!

if I’m free that weekend I’m going to shoot for Fort Wayne but I am not sure yet. I’ll definitely be hitting the Lebanon show though.
