Short tragic model stories... at one of m y old homes, I would build in my hobby room, but do my painting in the garage. There was no indoor passage to the garage, you had to exit the room walk down the side yard, then go into the garage via a side door. It was a block wall on one side and the house side on the other, making for a narrow walkway. In the afternoon when the onshore breeze kicked in, it would become something of a wind tunnel. on at least two occasions that I remember, those winds lifted aircraft builds off of their open top boxes that I was using to carry those projects to the painting area and then the model planes fell to the concrete below, breaking off the landing gear struts. I repaired both of those, but still it made for some angry moments and cursing. Dang, your lucky it only took out the landing gear. Plastic Model + Wind + fall + Concrete sounds like it would have produced a total write off .

Chris, regarding this Tamiya Wash that you have created, do you hand brush it on or airbrush it on?

Update I really enjoy brushing painting with this new Tamiya Retarder. Works great with these Tamiya and Tamiya-Like paints.
Everything is pretty much done except for the main painting and decaling. Spent quite a bit of time on the wing/fuselage joint -- those dawg gone gun access panels are a pain.

Looks great so far! What ratio retarder/paint do you use?

Looks great so far! What ratio retarder/paint do you use? I never really measured it but guessing it's around 1:3 retarder to paint. I just put a drop of retarder in the pallete then dunk a cheap 3/8 in flat brush in the paint and mix that into the retarder using the brush bristles. The key to the retarder us mixing it in good, and the flat brush seems to work the best in that regard IMO.

Coming along nicely still Chris. I hear you on the gun access panels but you're doing a swell job so far. Looking forward to the cals and paint.

Thought I would pop over here and peruse my own build thread to refresh myself as to where I am on this build and get my modeling mojo back. Time to get this train back on the tracks.

I hear you on the mojo Chris. Ever since the ablation procedure in February the medication that was prescribed to me took away much of my motivation to get anything done so I've been in lockup purgatory until lately. I've been hitting the bench pretty hard as of late and it's getting a little easier now to get things done there. I should be off of this junk in 25 days and 9 hours. lol Looking forward to seeing what you do with this one buddy and hope you get your mojo back soon.

Looks like things here are starting to look a little better as the doc cut my meds in half until the end date which is on the 21st of May. Hang in there brother and am looking forward to seeing you back at the bench.
