I looked at dozens of pictures and never saw any of these! The staining goes way further aft than I would have thought. The exhaust sure made a mess of these birds!! Guess that is what happens when you pump the exhaust out directly against the skin!

Yeah, I have some potato quality photos in my references that I went off of. Including a couple of those same ones. So I went over the top of the wings and some on the side of the nacelles in that pattern. Of course, I weathered mine lightly so it was more of a recently painted bird. I only have that same photo from the bottom but you can sort of see it on the side in this last one. I looked at dozens of pictures and never saw any of these! The staining goes way further aft than I would have thought. If you look at Pacific theater Allison Mustangs the exhaust staining is about the same. My references say that they leaned the fuel mixture to get the most range . I would assume they did the same with the Widows

At that rate they were practically two stroke and had to make a mess.

Glass looks very good, Tony. You are almost to the finish line. Well it looks ok from 3 feet away but falls closer examination. I tried an experiment with dipping the clear in Rejuvenate floor finish to see if it will work as a replacement for Future. It seemed great until I started pulling the masks off and it flaked off with it. Ended up with a dirty looking canopy with some gaps in the framing. I will be leaving it as is though since this whole build was just to see how the kit went together anyway. I will save the little Future I have left for canopy/glass dips and use the Rejuvenate for my tinted washes and decal sealing.

I wonder how hard it is to find the original Future out there now. I still have about 4/5 of bottle left and let me know if you need more.

If you mean the Hussy herself she is over 100 years old by now! Future has been gone 2 years now so it is impossible to find. I am going to grab some of this one to try next.

I think I will try using Tamiya's Acrylic gloss clear when my bottle of Future runs out, or the Alclad II ALC-600 Aqua Gloss Clear. But lately I haven't been using anything. Aqua Gloss Clear

Future just went away due to lack of sales. Not enough linoleum floors left I guess. It didn't work well on the new laminates and vinyl's.

Step one of exhaust stains. Very light grey airbrushed as per all the pics. Top gets all the way back to the tail Bottom pretty much just the sides and a little on wings

Excellent. Loving those exhaust stains. Second layer to give variation. Next layer will be more or less the first layer again but slightly lighter grey.

Exhaust staining scares me to death. I'm afraid I'll screw up all my hard work to that point. Your work looks great. You're braver than I am.

Still two more stages to go. With how dirty these things are in pictures I have little fear of screwing anything up. Just add more and still be in the realm of realistic! If the Hussy could talk she'd be all like...

I am clueless to what that is but I look forward to seeing it. Excellent. I have some of those oilbrushes I haven’t really had a spot to try them out yet. Definitely going to have to give that a whirl.
