Sometime around 10 or 15 years ago, I won this figure of a "Martian" at MosquitoCon in the raffle. I tried to give it away but couldn't find any takers. So, it went into the stash. A few years later, IPMS came up with the "Humor in Modeling" Catagory. A fellow club member abd I were talking about some ideas and he had a good one that he started on and challenged me to build one for an upcoming contest. Well, long story short, I came up with this idea and completed the build in time for the contest. photos.app.goo.gl/e4q8FFJQ6ZsGZAkUAHad to heat the arms and "fingers" to reshape them so they would hold the transmitter. The transmitter is scratch built from scrap plastic, grommets and different size straight pins (courtesy of my wife the seamstress) and a piece of reddish cloth from somewhere. Used one of my old R/C units as a model. Base is piece of wood with 1/2 of the top covered with model railroad gravel sprayed with various shades of red. The other half is a piece of wet/dry sandpaper. The planes are a couple of Bacman planes that I have had since I was a little kid. Cleaned them up and repainted them. Rigged the WWI plane with E-Z line. Scratchbuilt the easel and board from scraps and my wife found the photo of Mars somewhere and shrunk it down on the printer for me. We both entered the contest and at the end of the day ended up 1 & 2. I took 1st and he took 2nd with this build. photos.app.goo.gl/vwmjmqqCUuq1Pp4p9In case you're not able to read the caption on the build, it says "Dude, What are you going to tell your dad?" We had a ball making them and the club members that were with us kept riding us all day. "I saw the judges really looking at Paul's model." "I saw the judges looking at Jims." It was a really great day. Stay safe. Jim

Here's 3rd place. A great build with lights in the police car and saucer but I guess you just had to guess how the cop pulled over the saucer. photos.app.goo.gl/Lru8gdxaUYiQ9jQq8Stay safe. Jim

Congrats! Great imagination to use a kit that otherwise would still be on the stash pile
