I started off with a Tamiya Fw190 D-9, cut the nose off and replaced what was missing with a Jumo 213 inverted V-12 engine/ mounting from an Aires engine / cockpit set. I used limited cockpit parts from the set due to the fact that I had a spare Eduard Fw190 A8/R2 kit to rob some awesome PE parts and detailed plastic parts from. I also opened up one wing root cannon on the port side of the aircraft and used CMK's under carriage update set to display the tail wheel retracting mechanism through the access panel on the port side of the tail fin. The landing gear got a total upgrade due to Tamiya's inherent problem with the landing gear being WAY too short on these kits. I used the Eduard landing gear struts and doors from my spare kit to correct that issue. Also used from my spare Eduard 190 kit were the sliding canopy section (just a lot of detail in those things), the instrument panel(to include PE) , control stick, rudder pedals (PE), wing root cannon access panel and I ended up ordering a spare Eduard 190D-9 kit and using the cowl machine gun access cover out of it due to the fact that the Aires panel just literally sucked, but already ordered my replacement part to once again complete that kit and have another D-9 to build. The parts used from the spare kit were just too good to NOT use. Paints are Vallejo Air acrylic on the exterior and Model Master acrylics throughout the interior and nose section of the aircraft. All in all, I had a good time with this build until it came time for the Aires engine access panels, but I made it through it ok. And this.....I was really proud of. It looked as though I was going to get nominated for Best Aircraft of Show but got beat out by this one guy who had world class 1/32 F-4 Phantom. What I wound up with, however, was something just about as prestigious.....

Beautiful work! Congrats on the well deserved award! Is this the one you built for the 190 GB on here? If so, man that was quick!

A throwback to the "original" Butcher Bird GB. I remember the build thread from this and it looks as perfect now as it did then Joe! Your super detailing was over the top with this, definitely award worthy and is a build to be proud of for sure! "Herman" is still proud of you!

Thanks for the good comments fellas. reserve: Ya know Mark, it only took me 4 months for this build which pretty much floored me because every other build that I've tackled like this was a 9 month or better endeavor. Thanks bud. stikpusher: This one was from the first Butcher Bird GB 10 years ago brother. Thank you for the comments as well.

Fabulous build. I love all the engine panels opened up and that you can see it from the wheel well also. Very cool model -- you deserve the award for sure!

As I remember, I test fitted the crap out of this thing and when it was time for "showtime" to assemble the nose to the rest of the bird it almost didn't want to fit on there. It took me a few days to make mods to fit it. Dunno what happened but sometimes the best laid out plans falter at the end. lol Always loved the Dora. Excellent build! Thanks Clint!! Fabulous build. I love all the engine panels opened up and that you can see it from the wheel well also. Very cool model -- you deserve the award for sure! Thank you Chris. This is what one of these Tammy builds looks like with the complete main landing gear and sliding canopy section from the Eduard kit. I also used the cowl gun cover from the Eduard D-9 kit as well because it had all the ribbing on the bottom side of the panel.
